as she is only 7 months old!!she kept saying it on Tuesday when we were visiting.I am "very mean" apparently.all said in a jokey way,but it was the repetition that got to me.

They got her 2 eggs ffs!like what 7month baby can eat 2 chocolate eggs?she is hardly being deprived or neglected because I didnt give her a "taste".

She is surely madder now than when dd1 was small,at least then all she did was organise a secret christening,I really should just expect this! :)

Aw, I think it is mean not to give her a little taste of chocolate.

Plumm · 28/04/2011 12:11

I want to hear more about the secret christening - give us the whole story!

WhiteBumOfTheMountain · 28/04/2011 12:19

I'm with your MIL. You are mean. 7 months is hardly a newborn is it? Why couldn't the baby have a taste? What a misery.

Wamster · 28/04/2011 12:23

YANBU. Trouble is here that you sound as if you're moaning over something trivial when it is perhaps the case of the straw breaking the camel's back?
Look at it this way: if anyone else had made these comments (a friend, say) would you be as annoyed as you are now? Doubt it. It's just the latest piece of s*it from her, isn't it?

The secret Christening thing is totally, totally out of order wtf is wrong with the woman???!!!! You don't arrange secret Christenings behind people's backs!!!

YANBU. The straw that breaks the camel's back seems trivial in isolation but in context of the bigger picture is not trivial at all.

My DH GP bought DS an egg. He is 8 weeks old. But it's ok "because it's got Smarties in it". We ate it.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 28/04/2011 13:34

I think GPs often buy Easter eggs for their baby DCs in the full knowledge that thier DCs/DILs/SILs will scoff the lion's share themselves. It's a nice thing to do.

wigglesrock · 28/04/2011 13:43

My dd3 is 10 weeks old. got four cuddly bunnies for Easter, I'd rather have had the chocolate Grin.

Re Christening, I've just organised her christening for this Sunday, had to provide long birth certificate and parents had to see the priest.

MamaChoo · 28/04/2011 13:45

SECRET CHRISTENING!

Wamster · 28/04/2011 13:59

I know, this women organises a secret Christening, yet some here are saying messymammy is being unreasonable. Effing unbelievable! The mil is lucky that the op spends any time at all with her.

wigglesrock · 28/04/2011 14:02

But how did she organise a secret christening? I mean who was doing the christening/baptising? Am intrigued now, feel like I'm following an episode of Sunset Beach Grin

HeadfirstForHalos · 28/04/2011 14:08

Yes, we need to know more about the secret christening!

messymammy · 28/04/2011 14:09

Ok,seems Ive been a bit precious about the chocolate...:O oh well!
All in agreement shes mental though yeah?tbh i dont think she really thought about what would happen once she got to alter with no parents, but she had the afters all booked which had to be cancelled once i went ape at her!

Meglet · 28/04/2011 14:12

I have stolen most of my DC's eggs, and they're 4 and 2, it's not like they did an inventory of the damn things as they came into the house - it's me who does all the work round here and brushes her teeth properly without a tantrum. They certainly didn't get choc at 7mo either.

Can we have other stories on your MIL please!

exoticfruits · 28/04/2011 16:03

The mind boggles at her asking a vicar or priest to christen a DC without the parents! It is so mad that you can just discount it, smile and ignore. You don't even need to comment.
