Wedding or holiday??

We're going to Cornwall for the bank holiday weekend- I booked it when I heard about the wedding and that Friday was going to be a holiday. But I didn't realise the wedding was going to be in the MORNING, and we will now be travelling down there in the car while the wedding is going on!
I'm NOT a big royalist, but I do remember watching charles and di get married all those years ago, and it's a really clear childhood memory.
I'm worried I'm depriving my children of getting in on a national event and having a similar memory in the future.
Should we just leave later and watch it?
But then feel so pathetic to be cutting into our holiday just to watch the royal wedding!

It will be repeated over and over for the forseeable future so you can watch it later. My parents took me to the countryside for Diana's wedding as they're anti-monarchy but I still remember it from all of the coverage days after the event.

Just think how nice and clear the roads will be for your journey.

It will be repeated continuously all weekend, so you wont really miss much.

I am also sure your kids would rather go on holiday than be forced to watch a rainy wedding that means zilch to them.

LDNmummy · 27/04/2011 14:31

Nonsense, go on your holiday. They can watch it at any other point in the future.

You'll be able to watch it online afterwards no doubt, get on the road, silly to waste your holiday time :)

I was saying to my colleague earlier, I don't know if I do remember Charles & Dianas wedding or if I just remember all the footage that's been shown of it ever since, your kids are missing nothing they can't see later on

You could listen to it in the radio on the way down too, then watch the coverage later.

I've just looked at the Tv listings and there's a 90 minute highlights programme on BBC1 starting at 20.30. ITV also appears to have extended news 17.55-1900. So perhaps you could watch one/both of those instead?
