To insist that DS has to get his hair cut?

He's 9. Lately he's been insisting on letting his hair grow. Fine. But in fact he doesn't want to have it long, he just didn't want to get them cut.

One or two trips to the hairdressers ended in a massive tantrum where he basically escaped from the chair (those trips weren't with me btw).

He just came back from holidays at his GPs who took him to get a haircut but as he didn't want any length gone they just sort of graded his hair, keeping the length.

So now he has what is almost a mullet- graded hair on the sides and long in the back, down to the shoulders.

It's awful. On the one hand I don't mind him having some say re: his clothes, haircut etc, but this is really and truly an appalling haircut (as I said I wouldn't mind if he just let his hair grow long or decided to have it very short or whatever).

He refuses to go and get it cut.

AIBU to make him? Or should I just let go? I feel a bit lost- how much freedom for a 9yo? Help Smile I will heed by your advice.

Asinine-yes, I know he's too old for tantrums. As I said they happened when he was with his dad (my ex) or his GPs, who all spoil him imho. I'll try all the reverse psychology suggested.

Agent- I did suggest cutting off just a few cms. He won't compromise.

But, as Lady suggested, if I were to get smae haircut he might rethink the whole thing Grin

Think baggy white shorts coming down to just above the knee jenai, with thick grey tights with a huge print on them.

Nobody could ever make the accusation that I know anything about fashion stick, so that's not why, I wish I could get across the overall look of the two together, to say it's a crime against humanity wouldn't be an understatement.

Tbh, I don't think she wears them for the look, it probably has more to do with not being arsed to find anything else Grin

Grin

I had visions of a young girl in black, longish shorts over bright pink leopard print tights. Which could be v.sweet in a kooky Cyndi Lauper kinda way.

I think in your circs you were probably right however.

Thanks jenai Grin

She does like cyndi lauper, but it's more eccentric Farmer Barleymo minus the bailing twine than retro cool 80's Grin
