To take my son to A&E?

My DS is 2 years old and "fell" in the playground on Sunday. (He didn't really fall, but he landed badly on his foot when climbing down from some equipment - with me there to help him Blush)

Fast forward to today, he's not complained of any pain since the fall, but he's limping and I don't think it's improving.

I just took him to the out of hours doctor and they tried to x-ray him but said it needs at least two people in protective suits to restrain him for the x-ray, and so I have no choice but to take him to the hospital if I want him to be looked at.

I work full-time, so I would either need to take time off to go during the day, or I can take him tonight. (Or not at all Confused)

I phoned the hospital to check how busy they were, and they said it's a quiet night so we may be waiting an hour or so.

Is it unfair/unreasonable to take him to A&E tonight?

Right ok, I read it totally wrong then.
Hope he's ok and you don't have to wait too long.

WereOffToSeeTheWizard, I wasn't told expressly to take him tonight, that part was for me to decide. And the doctor I saw didn't know the part about no car etc.

And thanks AgentZigzag, just caught up with the goings on, didn't expect to cause such a stir! But glad you and most others understood what I was getting at Smile

So, why would you not take him?

Genuinely puzzled.

It's just the way that it is worded could be read as "Son fell, took to GP, Gp said to go to A&E for xray, SHall i go or not?" read a few times to see what the OP was really meaning. I would take tomorrow OP given that he is asleep now.

PaperView · 26/04/2011 22:21

That should say that I had to read a few times....

How is he?

RunningDay · 28/04/2011 16:24

Hello, thanks for asking after him Smile

Well, they didn't find the cause... we waited quite a long time in the end, as there seemed to be just one doctor. But the place was quiet and we were left in an empty room, so I even got a few minutes kip on the bed while DS slept in his pushchair.

The x-ray didn't show any broken bones in his foot, but he's still limping.

We have a check-up on Monday. I'm a bit worried it's not improving yet...

Running, this happened to my DD a few weeks ago. Came on suddenly and went again just as suddenly 4 days later. Hope your little one feels better soon.
