Today Db (25),took Dm shopping in his car.He parked in the "Parent and child" spaces(There were many free)his arguement being that Dm is his Dm and he is her (albeit grown-up(ish) child!!).I just looked at him like this Hmm and said I would ask Mumsnet their views on this subject:o

Most round here have been renamed Parent and Toddler or Parent and Young Children parking.

I think that the age limit should be when your children are big enough for car drivers to see (iirc that is at about 7) and they have enough road sense to look out for cars and walk sensibly through a car park. For me, it is not about the wide spaces ( though these help for doing up dd's belt which she still can't manage) but the length of the walk through a car park with a full trolley and a small 6 year old, whilst cars whizz around too fast and reverse without looking. I think that 10 should be the limit.

I honestly wonder how I managed a trip to the supermarket with my DCs 20 odd years ago when P&C spaces hadn't been invented. Somehow we survived it all [hm]

Sorry - should be Hmm Grin

Salmotrutta - things move on - don't be bitter!

I wouldn't have dreamt of using P+C spaces after mine turned five.

Do these people who park in the P&C spaces with their aged parent/grown-up child and then say "But I am his/her parent! She's my mum!!" really think they are funny and that the rest of us go:

"Oh gosh, that's so fuuuuunnnnny!! I've NEVER heard that one before!!!"

And why is it so often the lard ass's that do it too - you look like you could do with a few extra feet to walk across the car park, you bunch of lazy feckers!!!!!
