Or perhaps just a bit dim when asked by my dd 'what does the queen do?'

OK, fwiw I am certainly not a royalist and utterly ambivalent about the upcoming nuptials but this is not the issue here (no problem with your street parties and a like if that's your cup of tea). It's just that I simply could not come up with a good answer for my 4yo dd! Think I would have had a better chance of explaining the main issues raised by Prof. Brian Cox in Wonders of the Universe!

Well not sure how you would explain to a 4 yrold but the Queen can disolve parliament and call a general election to get rid of a bad government. I don't have kids so is there some way you could explain that to her? The alternative is to say she spends a lot of time at parties.

ummm....good question, as a nanny if a child asked me id say ask mummy or daddy :o
i guess you could say that in the olden days the queen or king use to run the country like the prime minister does (kind off lol) but now we have a prime minister the queen doesnt have a job like we do but still represents the country and she um visits places.

Thanks and I think you can see the difficulty - having your face on money and being married to a complete embarrassment just doesn't cover it Wink
