Awww, that sounds really crap.

What about taking a few trips to the supermarkets to get their freebies?

Or would your HV help out?

I don't like to think of you not having any nappies Sad

It'd be the quickest potty training in history though Grin

lucky24 · 23/04/2011 23:35

You can always try in the morning and see how it goes. Save the nappys for night times as he may need nappys at night for a while

FabbyChic · 23/04/2011 23:36

Is there any one that can help lend you some money?

You could try potty training but you will need nappies for the night time.

He might be ready to try if you aren't taking him out anywhere.

Sorry of your predicament.

lucky24 · 23/04/2011 23:38

Zigzag has a good point our boots have free nappys if you ask near the baby change area

crashingwaves · 23/04/2011 23:39

Where do you live - can I help at all?

GreenEyesandHam · 23/04/2011 23:40

Not sure where you are but it's a good opportunity whilst the weather is nice.

Let him run around without during the day and save the nappies for night times. He may surprise you, two out of my three became dry at night at the same time as the days

DontCallMePeanut · 23/04/2011 23:41

Do you not have any friends or families who can loan you some nappies for the time being? Or the money to get you some? By all means, go for the potty training, but you WILL need more than 4 nappies.

PebblesAndWine · 23/04/2011 23:41

Thanks :) Do supermarkets do freebies? I will try that if they do.....

It's a nightmare, I honestly thought I had some, but nope, four left.

He will be 3 in august so I suppose he is old enough, but I'm a big believer in waiting until they're ready. I don't want to push him, but maybe this is a good time to do it?

Just feel so shit about it though :(

PebblesAndWine · 23/04/2011 23:44

We are off to the in laws tomorrow, so we could ask, I just hate to :(

crashingwaves, that's really lovely thank you :) I will see how it goes with him in the morning and then swallow my pride and ask mil

AgentZigzag · 23/04/2011 23:44

I think most places that have a baby changing thingy will provide at least a few naps, DH says mcdonalds does.

Have you got any tucked away? I usually have a couple upstairs, in the pram, the car?

AgentZigzag · 23/04/2011 23:46

It's not like you're asking your MIL to borrow the cash for a car or anything, I'm sure she won't think a thing about it and be pleased to help out.

You'd have to be really mealy mouthed to tut at lending for some nappies.

PebblesAndWine · 23/04/2011 23:47

Am going to check the car, as there are bound to be a couple about. Good idea, thanks, I'll try him in pants tomorrow, maybe he will surprise me!

OP posts:
PebblesAndWine · 23/04/2011 23:48

You're right, I'm sure she wouldn't mind at all, its just me being stupid, I could kick myself though. Feel crappy about it.

OP posts:
DontCallMePeanut · 23/04/2011 23:49

It's what, £9 tops? I'm sure your MIL would be glad to help, rather than thinking of you struggling

missnevermind · 23/04/2011 23:50

Supermarkets with baby change will give you free nappys if you ask at the customer services

PebblesAndWine · 23/04/2011 23:52

Yes, I will ask her tomorrow (well dh will away!) thanks all, roll on bloody payday!

Off to bed to dream of nappies and lottery wins Wink

OP posts:
FabbyChic · 23/04/2011 23:53

Do you have a potty for him ready? How will you know he isn't ready if you haven't tried! You could try when you at home.

But good idea to get your husband to ask the MIL. It's a pita when you run out of nappies and are desperately trying to make them last.

Athrawes · 24/04/2011 00:05

Wow! Amazed that supermarkets in the UK give out nappies, how cool is that. A reason to move back to the UK.

EricNorthmansMistress · 24/04/2011 08:34

Asda value range nappies are really fine (tesco value are NOT) and they do a pack for under £2. Can you scrape it together in change?

FriedEggyAndSlippery · 24/04/2011 08:42

Good luck op.

Main advice is DO NOT WORRY about accidents. Just tell him where the wee goes and if he misses, just clear up and say better luck next time. I spent the first attempt with DD asking her every few minutes. Second time I just left her to it.

PebblesAndWine · 24/04/2011 08:42

I wish I had an Asda! I've got a Tesco and Morrison.....I reckon a small pack is about £4?

Ds had had an accident already, he just isn't remotely interested!

OP posts:
FriedEggyAndSlippery · 24/04/2011 08:43

Do you have a garden? Could he just run about outside?

PebblesAndWine · 24/04/2011 08:50

The thing is, he does prefer to be dressed, and no amount of me asking him if he needs a wee seems to get through, I just don't think he's ready.

But maybe I am just being lazy and putting it off and this could be the perfect

OP posts:
PebblesAndWine · 24/04/2011 08:52

We do have a garden, he just tends to wee where he's standing though, lazy little boy!!

He's my third, but I honestly can't remember how to potty train?!

OP posts:
MadderHat · 24/04/2011 08:57

Where are you, OP? I have an open packet spare of 4+ nappies (outgrown) and 5 pull ups (DS won't wear them) which I was going to pass along to the local women's refuge but you could have them. I'm on the Cambs/Beds border.
