To think that M&S should not try to dictate

the way I hang my loo roll! I am an 'under' hanger and always have been. I like the loo roll to hang neatly flush to the wall and not hang 'over', which I think looks untidy and clumsy. I should perhaps add that both DM and MIL were privately educated, are solidly middle class and they are 'under' hangers also. I went to the local all girls comp however...

Today I bought loo roll in M&S. It was patterned but I paid little attention as they had no plain white left. This evening I put the first roll on the holder to find that it has an 'under the sea' theme and that all the fishies are upside down when I hang it my way.

Upside down they will stay! I doubt DP or DS will notice but I do...... How very dare they!

Thank heavens meow has made my loo roll fetish (def over hang) logical and normal.

So I will still change loo rolls round in other peoples houses - as not only are they wrong but also unhygienic [bugrin]

goodegg · 23/04/2011 21:21

It must hang over, and your butler should make little points before you visit.

It's like hiding the end doing it your way, like Sellotape that hasn't been folded over. I want to see what I'm wiping my nethers with.

Meow75 · 23/04/2011 21:26

sneeze

I live to serve [bugrin]

Reindeerbollocks · 23/04/2011 21:28

If you are under hanging to be neat and discreet why did you buy patterned loo roll instead of boring but suitable White.

Clearly it's meant to hang over so YABU

Long thread about loo roll - only on mumsnet Grin

ivykaty44 · 23/04/2011 21:33

Oh shit

ivykaty44 · 23/04/2011 21:34

I use the wrong side of the loo paper if I do it that way

TidyDancer · 23/04/2011 21:34

YANBU. M&S are very wrong and you are right. Under hanging is the only correct way to do it. Those who live with me also know the right way, but if I go into other people's houses, I will always correct them, though most people have it right already. [busmile]

FriedSpamButty · 23/04/2011 21:37

I bought patterned cos they had sold out of plain white.

I will reconsider over as opposed to under. I cannot say fairer than that!!

Buy basic asda toilet roll instead of fancy m&s paper and you won't have that problem!

ivykaty44 · 23/04/2011 21:38

Could you just tear along all the perferations and then make a pile of bog roll so it doesn't ahng around at all?

goodegg · 23/04/2011 21:39

Reindeerbollocks are you posting from an iPhone? Mine constantly autocorrects white to capital W White, pisses me off no end.

Meglet · 23/04/2011 21:40

I change the work loo rolls to hang over Blush

I have the same Ikea loo roll post as Portoeufino though, so I don't have the problem at home.

spiderlight · 23/04/2011 21:45

YANBU - over is just utterly wrong. Apart form anything else, you have to use more force to pull the roll and it's more likely to rip when it's hung over. I have established this in several experiments. Plus whichever way you hang it, the 'body' of the roll is going to be touching the wall, so that's that argument blown out of the water.

FriedSpamButty · 23/04/2011 21:47

Ah I guess it is Izal all the way now...

FriedSpamButty · 23/04/2011 21:59

Ah no, that is unfair. Maybe M&S have just been a little short sighted...

We can still do breakfast in Hampstead so all is not lost.... but please - it is UNDER not over!

OP posts:
Happymm · 24/04/2011 13:13

It is not! It's over! M&S and my good self, plus loads of others here are right. You're being v unreasonable and you are WRONG! :o

FriedSpamButty · 24/04/2011 19:20

Lol - how odd. The Hampstead bit was supposed to go on another thread on another board. I suspect Wine interfered with my posting technique....

Anyway. Today I am sober and it is still UNDER and the fishies are still upside down!

OP posts:
Happymm · 24/04/2011 20:36

Turn it round then-you're giving them a headache! :o

heliumballoons · 24/04/2011 20:55

Under or over how do I get the roll to stop so DS doesn't leave it trailing across the bathroom? Grin.

OP, sorry but you are wrong, its over.

Even the crappy shiny arse scratching paper I had at school went over. Grin

Blondilocks · 24/04/2011 21:11

OH has the funny idea of hanging the loo roll backwards with the hanging bit at the back. I thought he was just being awkard!

RevoltingPeasant · 24/04/2011 21:57

Over is so right! It's closer to you and therefore more convenient!

You underhanging freaks.

FriedSpamButty · 24/04/2011 22:10

Under!! Neat, tidy and flush to the (clean) wall. Over is still and will always look wrong.

I accept that we may have to agree to disagree but IANBU!!
