To consider leaving my car at home on thursday...

... in order to keep my parking space? It might mean I will be late collecting my daughter from after school care as traffic is pretty bad at 5pm bus driver has no sense of urgency. Which could result in a social worker being called to 'look after' DD 'til I get there - they don't just fine you with this place Hmm. Ken Loach is apparently filming around the corner from where I live, from 8am-8pm on thursday. They have kindly informed 'locals' that they intend to 'cone off' a small stretch of my road take over the entire street in order to accommodate the entourage. Nice. If I do my usual and drive to work, I'll not get to park anywhere near home as my street is one of the few that actually has a space.

So, do I 'park' in the way of this film shoot, just to make sure I can still see my car from my window? Or do I gamble and end up having to park streets away with no idea if my car will have windows intact/wheels attached the next morning?

leave at home

Is the car more likely to have wheels on it the next morning if you can see it? {puzzled}

Or is yours just the only safe street in the area? I have never understood the thing about being able to see yr car. I personally would avoid being late to pick up my daughter if that was the choice.

Well, I don't exactly live in the nicest area. My street isn't exactly problem free but the added hassle of something happening with car located streets away, and no one to look after DD while I sort out anything that could happen doesn't appeal. Me being able to see the car doesn't prevent said car from being damaged vandalised in some way. But how to deal with it, with a 6 yr old to deal with at the same time, is something that I'd rather not do. Just worried about being possibly late to collect DD from ASC as not sure the bus would be quick enough for me.

can't you take a taxi to collect your DD? doesn't sound right to be late collecting her. Or could you make arrangements with your day-care that you will be a little late?

Might broach the possibility of being late on thursday - but I anticipate zero tolerance on this given hard-nosed stance the boss there takes (understandably, I'd hate to be in the position of being taken advantage of by parents who think nothing of taking up your free time 'cos they haven't picked up their child i'm never late ). Or consider the taxi option - pricey but worth it so as to avoid a social worker being contacted. Sorted. Thanks for the replies. Now all I have to do is have a nosey with DD when we get home, see if we can squeeze into shot with whatever it is they are filming.
