to be rather annoyed with my childminder

I am probably going to be flamed here.

When I was working days dd went to a childminders and really loves going there, in january I had a nervous breakdown and ended up giving my job up. I have recently gone back to work however I work evenings. We made the decision dd would still go for 10 hours per week and on the 2 days she goes I go to the gym.

This is why I am annoyed. The childminder now says she doesn't want dd anymore as I am not working days and she feels it is a waste of a placement. Aibu to be pissed off with her as this now means I can't go to the gym!

has she actually given you notice?

Quenelle · 19/04/2011 12:23

That doesn't sound to me like she was giving you notice. Are you sure that's what she meant?

heliumballoons' interpretation makes more sense to me.

I think the real issue is the fact that you have reduced her hours due to you not working, in fairness the childminder needs to make a living, I couldn't afford to lose 5 hours money a week!

Would you consider placing your DD in a nursery? My boys go 2 days a week whilst I am working but I often put them in for an extra afternoon here when I have needed to decorate or wanted to get my hair done etc. The nursery are so flexible and would never comment on what I may be doing with my time!

When you gave up your job did you stop using the childminder for a while? If so she might be worried that if you aren't working whilst DD is in childminder you might be more inclined to stop using the childminder again if you've had enough of going to the gym so would rather use the place for another child.

Perhaps she has had an offer from someone wanting more hours?
