Every time it is on and I do mean every time, the kids are reminded to sit down on the sofa when it isnt their turn. They can see the screen and they are out of the way of whoever is swinging their arms around playing. And everytime they start walking around too near the person playing and there is atleast one accident, which will kick off WWIII as obviously it isnt their fault but the fault of the person that hit them.

It has got so bad that they only go on it once every few weeks now. I am fed up with the bloody thing!

I have been known to confiscate the remotes for certain periods of time.

don't forget straps around the wrist rule. I know someone who is a TV repairer and has seen lots of smashed screens due to flying Wii remotes.

YANBU to not want to use it anymore since they can't stick to the rules, YABU to bin it, too expensive IMO, ebay it.

AgentZigzag · 18/04/2011 11:24

YABU, you need to find a way of getting them to sit down (with a reward/penalty) because a wii should be a sea of calm for you in these difficult times we're living through (ie the school holidays) Grin

My friend removes the wii every so often since her then 3 year old flung the control at the TV and smashed it to smitherines.

YABVU...

Send it to me Grin

Try the multiple player games - wii party is fab, mariokart, dance junior etc You can get second hand ones cheap now. Try the local library too, ours does wii games

Anyone who gets up off the sofa leaves the room???

Bogeyface · 18/04/2011 11:28

I am just sick of the shouting that ensues! They are great kids normally and will play together and share etc but when the Wii goes on they have all the co-operation of cats in a sack!

They yell at each other, I yell at them until I get totally pissed off, confiscate it and it goes away for another 3 months Angry

Too expensive to bin, plus you're not supposed to bin things with a crossed out wheelie bin symbol.

Useful things shouldn't go to landfill.
Charity shop it instead.

knockinonyerdoor · 18/04/2011 12:40

I solved this easily. Whenever dd had her friends round and they played on it, I kept the tv remote in my hand and watched from the door. The moment more than one person stood up, I hit the 'off' button. It's surprising how fast they learned to Sit, Stay. Grin

Bogeyface · 18/04/2011 12:42

That is a good idea Knock, I think I will institute that one!

And when I say "Bin it" I mean get rid of it, not actually chuck it in the bin, I am not that stupid!

I think Pheebe is right - you need to try different games. Something they can play at the same time might be better.
