told my so called best friend something. Doesn't matter what, just something I don't want others to know, including my DD. Today she told me that she had told her 13 year old DD, who is best mates with my DD... I said I didn't really want anyone else to know, but she said "oh, DD won't tell anyone else"... but a) unfair to tell her DD and tell her not to tell anyone else and b)betrayed my confidence.... I won't fall out with her over it but feel I've lost a confidante. Or AIBU?

I know RoadArt, it's awful. I'd almost understand if she'd told another adult - but a child, who is best friends with my DD - don't get it

My mum does this with me, but im 35! And she KNOWS it would never be repeated.

I am shocked that an adult 'secret' has been shared with a child, especially as she is your dd's friend.

I would not be telling her anything you wanted kept secret again.

Have you asked her why she felt it necessary to tell her daughter information like that?

I mean anything medical told about an adult shouldn't be told to a child who WILL tell someone, even if her mum thinks she won't.

Very bizarre. Hope you are ok OP and YADNBU. I feel rather Angry and :( on your behalf.

no, I haven't asked her... I think she likes to think of her and her DD as having an adult relationship, and she knows that i was a bit shocked that she'd told her but it was kind of "we tell each other everything"............ so just made me realise that's one less person I can talk to about stuff
