Digs about being overweight...

toomuchwine13 · 16/04/2011 22:30

Just back from a meal with my not so 'd' h; at which he pretty much put me down for being overweight, in front if our friends. I am shocked and hurt, first time in five years, I have a 14 wk old and have just lost 18lbs on top of the 20lbs post birth.
My ex had a major problem with my weight, to the detriment or our relationship, which h knows about. Admittedly we had both had a fair bit of wine, which prob makes me oversensitive about it, but equally, surely not fair game?

Currently in bed sulking, and seriously thinking about telling him to move out, sounds OTT I know, but it is a sensitive issue for me.

So am I BU? I think prob yes...

yanbu

worraliberty · 16/04/2011 22:33

What did he say to put your down?

I only ask because it might be possible that you took it the wrong way?

Yes telling him to move out is very unreasonable unless your want your child to grow up with divorced parents, when perhaps this could be resolved.

worraliberty · 16/04/2011 22:33

'you' down Blush

SueSylvesterforPM · 16/04/2011 22:35

sorry to pry would be better advicxe wise if we knew what he had said???

my DP like to pick on my fat after I had DSc great timing Hmm

AgentZigzag · 16/04/2011 22:36

How did the comments your DH made play out?

I'm not saying YABU, but I suppose how he said it/context might make a difference.

Well done losing the weight you have, 14 weeks is nothing though to even be thinking about getting back to 'normal'.

You are being OTT to want him to move out on this alone, it sounds like you want him to know how much he's hurt you.

If that's the case you need to find the words to get him to realise how what he's said has made you feel rather than expressing yourself by telling him you want him to move out.

toomuchwine13 · 16/04/2011 22:37

Basically he was talking about frank sidebottom, random, but true, and his round fat face and saying how he had one and so would our daughter from his genes, but mine was entirely of my own making.

I know I am making a mountain out of a molehill, but am just so surprised by his attitude...

YANBU.

He should not have put you down in front of your friends. That is Not On. Is this typical behaviour from him?

FabbyChic · 16/04/2011 22:37

It's one thing to mention it when you alone together but even then you have a 14 week old can take 6 months to get back to a reasonable weight.

He is totally out of order slagging you off in front of people about your weight, how fucking mean. I'd make him sleep on the sofa.

worraliberty · 16/04/2011 22:37

Why does Zigzag take what's in my mind and type it more eloquently all the bloody time? Hmm

Friggin show off Grin

chipmonkey · 16/04/2011 22:39

Oh, so he has a round fat face and he's sniping about your weight. Nice guy.

SueSylvesterforPM · 16/04/2011 22:41

he's out of order

have you said to him?

if so how did he react??

sorry tell me to sod off nosey me

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 16/04/2011 22:41

Toomuchwine - are you breast or formula feeding? If you are FF I'd be telling him he is on permanent night shift because disturbed sleep is terrible for weight loss.

GIT - would be sleeping on the sofa - at best.

No matter what - your weight is NOT up for discussion 14 weeks after having HIS baby - wanker.

You are doing well losing weight, but please don't put yourself under too much pressure to do so, your body is doing a lot of work right now and needs to be fed properly x

beesimo · 16/04/2011 22:43

I have put about 24 pounds on in the last few months as a result of being laid up after a riding accident. Had our first proper cuddle up for months last Friday lovely as usually said to H (he's lost the D at the mo) oh I feel so chubby at the moment expecting him to say don't worry pet I love you so much ect ect.

The gammy devil said 'oh B it was great it was like being with another woman'!!! What does this mean OP? it means as they ALL do DH opened his gob without engaging his brain.....

Don't take it too seriously he probably didn't mean it like it sounded. That is my Hs defence hmm

FabbyChic · 16/04/2011 22:44

My friend had her baby 19 days ago, she is gutted that as yet she cannot fit in her size 8's, she is back doing 150 sit ups a day and wearing a size 10. Some are just lucky others it takes time to lose the weight.

beesimo · 16/04/2011 22:45

ALL do sometimes DH

toomuchwine13 · 16/04/2011 22:51

I have left him downstairs asleep on the sofa, will speak to him tomorrow when I an not feeling so mental, I amrubbish at being angry, generally.just end up crying, so will be more coherent sans wine.

I am so disappointed...

OP posts:
AgentZigzag · 16/04/2011 22:52

Hmmm, I think I would be a little bit pissed at that.

You're not fat, you've just been pregnant, and any remarks about weight are totally off limits in my mind.

If he knows your ex upset you saying similar things then he's either doing it on purpose to wind you up or he was just being thoughtless and insensitive.

I would say the latter if he's normally OK, give him a verbal kick - and stop sulking! Grin

(shurrup worra Blush)

MaisyMooCow · 16/04/2011 22:56

Get yourself a good night's sleep (if that's possible) and you'll be ready to kill talk to him in the morning in a more rational frame of mind.

Insensitive git.

toomuchwine13 · 16/04/2011 22:57

Zigzag, he is normally great,, and I am being a sulky cow I think.

Will end my will tomorrow, after his night on the sofa...:)

OP posts:
fedupalready · 16/04/2011 22:58

So you're not perfect in his eyes, charming, maybe you should hurt his feelings and do some fault-finding yourself see how he likes it.

toomuchwine13 · 16/04/2011 22:58

Will end my sulk!! Stupid phone...

OP posts:
worraliberty · 16/04/2011 23:07

I was going to say, he's been a git and cutting him out of your will is a good idea Grin

Seriously though, some people just don't realise how these things affect others...and with such a young baby and so much weight loss already, he should have thought before opening his big gob.

Make sure he waits on you hand and foot tomorrow...and give him 'that' look if he even tries to complain about scrubbing the floors Wink
