Should pregnancy tests be "accessible" as a rule to the visually impaired?

I have to be honest, I had my jaw on the floor listening to this (11 minutes in), AIBU?

So should there be a buzzer in all pregnancy tests, so a positive or negative result is audible as well as a visible positive or negative, for the benefit of visually impaired women/couples?

I agree pregnancy tests per se are just money-making and a bit of a gimmick to a lot of us, and we existed perfectly well when they didn't exist. But I think the issue here is that, if you're visually impaired, it seems to me that often people expect you to forgo bits of independence, and this might be one of them. Not all tests should have to be bells and whistles, but it wouldn't be hard to make a kind you could use privately as a visually impaired woman, without needing to involve the GP or the pharmacist in what's often quite a private discovery.

I think there should be tests available which are suitable for visually impaired, sold at the same price as others of the same brand. Presumably the amount sold would be tiny compared to the normal ones, so if necessary we could all pay a few extra pence to subsidise them.

I'd hate to have to ask someone else to read a test for me. Wouldn't be so bad having my DH do it, but if I were single, or in a casual relationship or with a DP working away... The woman concerned has the right to be the first to know.

I just came on this post in a google search. i'm totally blind and TTC with my husband who is also blind. i've started a petition for Clearblue and the like to start doing something to make pregnancy tests accessible to the visually impaired community. please if you support this would you sign and share? thank you so much!! www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/manufacturers-of-pregnancy-tests-make-pregnancy-tests-accessible-to-all

It would stop all the 'is there a line or not' threads!

Why does it have to be a noise? Couldn't it be made so the test line and pregnancy line are tactile, so you could feel for one or two lines?
