to want to see Take That when I'm eight months pregnant?

Okay. I had tickets to see Take That on 2nd July. I am usually a rational, intelligent woman with much better musical tastes, but I have loved Take That since I was 11 and the habit isn't going to die now Grin

Almost immediately after I bought the tickets I discovered I was pregnant Smile Smile Smile and that the baby is due on 26th June. So I sold the tickets on viagogo and we used the money to buy a cot. I think this was saintly behaviour, given that I have seen Take That at every tour since 1994 and, in the wilderness years, was a huge Mark Owen fan. I've been to see him twice too Blush. In fact, DH is actually a Mark Owen fan now, despite usually liking Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and Aerosmith.

I also sold my piano to pay for repairs to our house, so I am now thinking I am a double saint. We are ploughing all our money into making our house better for when the baby comes, and trying to make sure we have zero on our credit cards etc before she is born. Obviously this is all very sensible and I am in total agreement with DH that this is what we should do.

Last weekend, though, I won £95 on a £5 bet on the Grand National, and I did a telephone interview for which I got £60. So I now have £155 to burn. DH wants us to go for a meal, go to the cinema, and go for lunch etc with the money. I want to go to see Take That at the end of May in either Sunderland or Manchester (we live in Cambridge). DH says this will end up costing way more than £155 with travel/hotel involved. I say I'm carrying his child and I deserve it Grin

Who is right? . Tell me it's me!

HeadfirstForHalos · 16/04/2011 19:35

I went to see the Sex Pistols 11 days before I had my youngest! He is now rather partial to a bit of punk rock too Grin

Im off to Bristol -seated (wuss I am!)

RatherBeACyborg · 16/04/2011 21:04

I went to see Foo Fighters at Wembley at 8 months pregnant. (I was seated though) so go, it'll be fine.

chicaguapa · 16/04/2011 21:07

YANBU. End of. Grin And pick Manchester over Sunderland.

sharbie · 16/04/2011 21:09

i saw rocky horror show when i was pregnant - that was a weird one

Lucy88 · 16/04/2011 22:27

Get yourself and ticket and go and enjoy yourself.

I went to watch Cardiff City play Leicester 3 days before I was due and I was absolutely fine. Even drove the round trip from Cheshire to Leicester to go to the match (on my own). I decided that I felt ok and I was pregnant not ill, so I might aswell go and do something I enjoyed. You won't get much chance to do things like that once the little one comes along.

HipHopopotomus · 16/04/2011 23:27

Oh go & enjoy. I saw Prince at O2 while 8 months pg. Teas brilliant night, I danced loads and DD kicked away happily

Gumps · 16/04/2011 23:37

I am going to Wembley in July and will be nearly 8 months too.
Dh keeps asking whether the noise would be bad for the baby which I thought was hilarious as it already has a fair amount of padding around it to keep it safe... Then of course I googles it and it said concerts are not advisable. Bloody Internet and medical advice.
Surely it's bollox and the baby can't possibly have it's hearing damaged?

michelle2011 · 16/04/2011 23:45

as long as it is safe to do so then why not - lets face it your concert attending days could be numbered once baba comes along!!! grab the chance

ExeterisEasy · 16/04/2011 23:48

yabu - VERY - because you aren't taking me :-( i will deliver the baby if you pop!! you could name it..hmm.....Mark!

ExeterisEasy · 16/04/2011 23:49

(i went to watch dave spikey (off of phoenix nights) when i was 9 months pregnant with youngest i sat on the front row, i was the object of MANY jokes - you like your pies dont you etc. etc...bastards..)

jenga079 · 17/04/2011 00:13

I'm hoping to! Have tickets for the June dates & I'm due in July. We're still planning to go, but I'll be back her to flog them to iamamug if we can't make it Smile

Mumofaflump · 17/04/2011 00:46

Oh go! I was desperate to see Linkin Park last year but was going to be 34 weeks so didn't. Really regret it now.

ExeterisEasy · 17/04/2011 00:49

(will bring clean towels and a nice flask of hot water just incase - plus a flask of southern comfort just for myself as midwife :-D - you may have a sip if you promise not to be loud during good songs) (SHOCKING!)

Cutiecat · 17/04/2011 09:16

I saw madonna at webley when 8 and half months pregnant. It was totally fab, no problems going to the loo etc and they had a st johns ambulance lady stand right near me! Considering I also had pre eclampsia (but didn't know at the time) I was huge and I still had a wonderful time. I did cry an awful lot due to hormones.

Go and have a blast, as another poster said it will be a long time until you get the chance again. X

Rowan49 · 17/04/2011 09:17

YADDDDDNBU! Have an amazing time!

Just think, if your baby arrived and is a boy you could name it after one of the members ;) (JOKE!) x

lazylula · 17/04/2011 09:21

Georgimama, I was hoping to be able to express and freeze some in the couple of weeks leading up to going, so my mum can use it while she has the baby and then expressing when I can on the way and at the concert (obviously in private lol). We are coming hoe so can go to my mum's if I need to to feed bubs when we get back. I am just hoping that I can bf this time and that this doesn't ruin it for me if I can!

Georgimama · 17/04/2011 10:37

If you've got BF established being away from the baby for 12 to 24 hours won't ruin your supply. You'll probably need to pump and dump while you're away though otherwise you'll get horribly engorged and it's painful.

takethatlady · 17/04/2011 14:41

georgimama you won't go into labour with excitement, I'm sure. And if you do, maybe you'll get on the news and TT will visit you in the hospital Grin

iamamug you can get them on viagogo, which is some sort of semi-official 'ticket exchange' - they're more expensive than face value but not too much (between £80 and £100)

gumps that sounds like definite google bollocks to me ...

VERY impressed by all the pregnant concert-going on this thread Grin
