In thinking this is a bit ridiculous?

DD has chickenpox. Not really unwell and carrying on as normal but of course, I won't take her out and about until her spots have all scabbed over. We live next door to the village hall and on a Friday morning there is a playgroup for babies and toddlers etc.

DD and DS were in our back (walled) garden this morning playing when one of the mums came to my door and said that she'd heard that DD had chickenpox and could hear her playing in the garden. I obviously looked puzzled as she rolled her eyes and heaved a huge sigh then said 'well can you shut her indoors for now as I want to take DD into playgroup and don't want her catching your DD's bugs on the way in'.

Was IBU telling her not to be so ridiculous? Not sure if IWBU or she's just a headcase.

That's too funny Grin

Ellie02 · 15/04/2011 15:10

Hahaha :) that made me laugh.

ChippingInMistressSteamMop · 15/04/2011 15:10

Just when you think you've read it all....

Have you heard from anyone who went what she said??

I'd laugh if she insisted on not letting any of the children play out 'just in case' ... twat.

SusanneLinder · 15/04/2011 15:15

I giggled when I read this.I hope you have a suitable black cross on your door. :) What an eejit.

I am obviously very old,cos when I was a kid we WENT to chicken pox/german measles parties, and yup I caught the lot :)

Bogeyface · 15/04/2011 15:16

I take it that it didnt occur to her that by knocking on your door she was taking herself closer to the flying bugs, and your child could actually have come to the door with you?!

Stupid cow!

Nesthaekchen · 15/04/2011 15:16

I had to laugh. Whatever next? Maybe you won't be allowed to open the window or whatever when your DD is in the house?

WideWebWitch · 15/04/2011 15:17

YANBU she needs to get a grip for sure.

KatieWatie · 15/04/2011 15:28

I believe it's not unreasonable to ask you to shut your child inside and make her stay there for at least 20 years just to make sure the virus is completely dormant.

Also please don't let her use the toilet or washing facilities as the bug could be transmitted down the waste pipes. Please burn (indoors) all clothes and toys she comes into contact with.

I also suggest she's not allowed near a computer, as there is a potential that the virus could spread rapidly via the internet.

I don't want my as-yet-unborn child exposed to the bugs being transmitted by your daughter (who is, by the way, the only child in the country ever to have suffered with this highly unusual disease you speak of)

KatieWatie · 15/04/2011 15:31

I would suggest that the conversation at playgroup went something like this:

"that Megatron is so unreasonable... she had her daughter outside and was forcing her to rub up against my children to ensure they caught the pox!"

I bet she doesn't mention the enormous brick wall between them.

Megatron · 15/04/2011 17:27

I had to come back on and tell you that a friend of mine popped in to see me here at the house of pox to tell me that this woman did indeed slag me off at playgroup this morning.

Apparently I have 'a complete disregard for the safety of the other children in the village' Grin. Incidentally my friend was almost lying on the floor laughing when she was telling me this as the other folk who were there sat staring at this woman open mouthed, until one of the more straight talking women told her to 'unclench and remove her head from her arse' or words to that effect.

I've bought a bell for DD and stuck a paper bag over her head to avoid any further problems.

btw YANBU Wink

Bogeyface · 15/04/2011 19:52

I think you should stick a great big "HOUSE OF POX" sign on your door with a red cross in time for the next playgroup :o

unfitmother · 15/04/2011 19:54

What a loon!

G1nger · 15/04/2011 19:56

She should be welcoming the pox. We all need to have it at some point!

Cerrrazy.

52Girls · 15/04/2011 20:00

Funny!

LDNmummy · 15/04/2011 20:01

This story just made my otherwise rubbish day. PMSL! Grin

thederkinsdame · 15/04/2011 21:18

Has she also painted a big red cross on your door?! You best be careful or the villagers may brick your doorway up tonight Wink

HipHopopotomus · 15/04/2011 22:14

Ha! Cheers for the laugh of the day. Totally bonkers of her :)

Lunabelly · 18/04/2011 00:33

YANBU, and I myself would be tempted to poo in her handbag. (Incidentally, just in case you think I am a Wierd, "poo in her handbag" is the phrase we use on another site when faced with an unreasonable wuckfit...)

sunnydelight · 18/04/2011 05:19

Oh how funny. I was going to suggest a bell and yelling "unclean, unclean" over the fence but you beat me to it Grin
