Grrrr - I know I'm overweight, but really!

I am 5'3" and weight 12 stone. Yes, I know I am overweight but have been quite poorly for 3 years and quite sedentary because of it.

I recently had to go into hospital, which necessitated buying a couple of nighties. Because we live in a very rural area my only option was George at Asda. I bought a pack of nighties size 20-22..........and they basically fit where they touch!

Surely at 12 stone I don't need to buy size 24-26 clothes!!!!!

I am 5'4 ish, weigh 13 1/2 st and I am in asda size 18 trousers and 20 tops. I think its all down to how you like clothes to fit. Asda nightwear is really bad for sizes.

PigeonMalteaserMadness · 15/04/2011 13:21

I am amazed that Asda clothes are undersized! Do they have no understanding of their target demographic?

For example, my sister has shopped there every week for the last five years and didn't actually know where the fresh fruit / veg aisles were when I asked her to pick up some carrots.

I'm 5 foot 4 10 stone 10 and a size 10.

Even accounting for variability between people as shown on this thread I'd have thought 12 stone could be somewhere between a 12 and an 18, not a 22!

SequinsAndSparkles · 15/04/2011 13:41

I don't think weight and clothes size always go hand in hand.

I weigh 14 and a half stone, but I am only a size 14. At 10 stone, I am a comfortable size 8. I am not particuarly tall either, ony 5'5. I am really overweight, but don't look as much as I am.

Depends hugely on where you carry your weight. I am 11 stone and 5'4, and I have clothes ranging from size 8 (because I have teeny thin shoulders) to size 16 (because I also have childbearing hips). This convinces me labelling is all bollocks. Most of my stuff is size 12-14. Cut the labels out and pretend they never existed!

That's brilliant, Fabbychic.

Are you exercising too? I'm trying to shift about 5lbs - I know the last few will go nowhere without running.

Love this thread. I am 9 stone 8 and at 5 foot 5 I wear a 12 most of the time, occasionally a 10. I went into Zara the other day and a pair of size large trousers would barely fit over my legs.
