Should I have not given up my seat on the bus for a pg woman?

was I being silly to offer my seat to a pg woman - should I really have ignored her large bump and sat grinning at her instead?

AIBU to give up my seat and make her very happy?

YANBU....I always give up my seat for pregnant ladies, although not many did when I was pregnant!

nethunsreject · 15/04/2011 10:33

It was the right thing to do, yup.

Flower1000 · 15/04/2011 10:34

No you are NBU, I used to travel to London on a regular basis whilst I was pregnant and I have to say, I was always extrememly humbled by anyone who gave up a seat for me on the tube. Actually it restored my faith in human nature somewhat as the tube, at rush hour isn't a nice place. But I found that from being about 7 months pregnant onwards people would always offer me a seat - mainly women actually, and I think it just shows that we, as humans, still have a little bit of humanity left (those of you who use the tube at rush hour will know what I mean).

Why would you ask, did something happen?

Whether you give up the seat or not, I wouldn't sit grinning at anyone. The might think you are slightly insane.

EricNorthmansMistress · 15/04/2011 10:35

Why would you have been U to do that?

ivykaty44 · 15/04/2011 10:35

see I just wasn't sure - I did worry incase she thought I thought her bum looked big in this pg and may be offended - do you think her bum was in effect the problem looking so big I had to let her sit down otherwise I was afraid she would squash me if we cornered to fast?

I was thinking that Bubble :o I wouldn't sit grinning at someone either. I'm 7 months pg and would find being grinned at very disturbing.

olderyetwider · 15/04/2011 10:39

I got offered a seat by a young woman yesterday. I'm not pg. She must have thought I was old Blush

Melly19MummyToBe · 15/04/2011 10:40

OP have you ever been pregnant before? The last thing I worry about when standing up is whether my bums big or not! I worry about my back mainly and think "oh god I need to sit down right now"

jellykit · 15/04/2011 10:41

I personally wouldn't. I like to stand next to them and lean to one side slightly. The visual disortion combined with their skewed center of gravity makes them fall over

ivykaty44 · 15/04/2011 10:41

I have been pg before and afters - I can't remember whether I went on a bus though?

Did you worry about your bum being big then? Can't say it's even occured to me to think about that :o to be honest as far as I can tell, it's just my belly what has got bigger. My boobs haven't really grown either. They're just firmer and heavier.

ivykaty44 · 15/04/2011 11:38

oh just wait till afters - your boobs will suddenly appear and its ohohoho shit they are not comfy stuff on my chest.

I worried about my bum to offset the pain of my boobs I think.

Poor woman though If I had been on said bus

Melly19MummyToBe · 15/04/2011 12:06

I'm not convinced that they will get much bigger to be honest, I'm an F cup already, I was before I got PG, so surely they wont grow much more will they? [hopeful]Confused

dearyme · 15/04/2011 12:16

she may have been a militant feminist yoghurt knitter who would be offended
