In wondering what the flip is biting me?!?

For about 5 weeks now I have been getting chomped on a daily basis. Just me, not DF, not DS. I don't have pets, I've hoovered, boil washed the bed linen, washed all my clothes, have tumbled rather than hung them out...

Still, every day! This morning I have a line of 6 up the side of my calf...

What the actual fuck is it?!?

For every flea in the house there are thousNds of eggs in the carpet and this warm weather will mean they are starting to hatch. U can get carpet flea killer from a vet but it's bloody expensive! You will need to spray and vacate for the day of you have kids

I am not afraid of spiders, I am not afraid of spiders, I am not afraid of spiders

Right. I have put my foot down with a heavy hand and demanded that DF take the bed apart. Tonight. I have also announced that I am sleeping in the spare bed. Until. It. Is. Sorted.

Steam cleaner thingy ordered from dry cleaners to do carpets tomorrow. If that doesn't work I will have the exterminators in!

We get alot of big spiders coming out of hiding this time of year down this way. Last year I found one that freaked me out. It was the colour and shape of a red ant but with 8 legs and the size of a dessert spoon bowl. I did not go near it!!!

Ooooh that sounds like a woodlouse eating spider. Beautiful little critters.

I had something similar last year - but the bites were over my abdomen. It drove me nuts as I was the only one getting munched. We have a cat but she's regularly flea-ed and half the house is bare boards not carpet and the carpet was hoovered with a turbo "Cat and Dog" hoover every week....

I got some borax online imported (you can get substitute borax or small quantities of borax from some pharmacies/health food shops) - and boiled everything with the borax (it is an insecticide). We got rentokill around and they fumigated the house, and eventually whatever it was "buggered" off. Ha.

I never saw a flea or any evidence of any sort of bug but it drove me absolutely batty - sooo itchy and annoying.

Just go hell for leather and fumigate the house (but don't use rentokill, they're on the pricey side and didn't really "investigate", just turned up with the chemicals and asked where the carpets were).

Right, no new bites since Friday. I think it may have been a rouge mosquito in the bedroom. No sign of bedbugs and I haven't seen any sign of fleas.

Oooh, B52s that would make sense, my last house suffered from damp and was full of woodlice.

Thank you all for your advice!

I had this too - if its only on your feet and lower legs then its fleas (they can't jump any higher!). If you drive, try changing the mat in the footwell as I think that's where they were living while they ate me! Good luck!

Sounds like fleas to me, I had the same problem in the autumn. DH did not believe me for ages, until literally counted and pointed out the 48 bites on my leg to him and went nuts

Pet shops sell a flea killing spray, you literally spray the whole house, curtains, mattress, skirtings etc. I had DH do it while I went to my mums for a week or so.

Oh interestingly the man in the pet shop told me that they only bite men once or twice but really like to munch on us women. Apparently its something to do with the male (?) flea only being the bitey one and they are attracted to the female pheromones.

Good luck in the extermination...
