Huge Congrats on the healthy birth of Belle Baldwin. What are everyone's thoughts on the name?

I like Belle. Not sure about Baldwin.

Smile scottishmummy.

Animation · 14/04/2011 19:20

Anyway, good job it wasn't a boy called Mike.

JoyceEasterBunnyaby · 14/04/2011 19:22

Ashamedandconfused - are you kidding?!! I know Belle was early but Holly has looked HUGE (in a pregnant way) for months!!

LadyOfTheManor · 14/04/2011 19:24

My thoughts are that it is a dull name for a dull family.

I had no idea she was due nor do I care what she called her baby.

I tend to read the "widespreads" not the red tops, sorry.

JoyceEasterBunnyaby · 14/04/2011 19:31

Why are people posting on a thread just to say they have no interest in it?! No need to apologise for not being interested in something, but I can't see the point in bothering to post that you don't care!! The thread title made it quite clear what the thread was about - why on earth click on it if it's not something you want to read about?!

UrsulaBuffay · 14/04/2011 19:34

I think Isabelle nn Belle would be preferable, but not my child.

Glad the endless tweeting's over though! Also unbelievable that she tweets the news herself 2 hrs after the birth- how about ringing your Gran first??

scottishmummy · 14/04/2011 19:34

now come on Joyce,if mn worked like that there would be bugger all posts worth reading

and again AIBU is a question, invitation to opine, if you only want gushing schlebs are awesome dont post aibu.post in media threads, for fellow clappers

MamaVoo · 14/04/2011 19:35

Joyce - they want it to be known how superior they are to the 'red top' readers :)

I like Belle very much, but probably wouldn't have used it with Baldwin. It's pretty inoffensive though for a celeb baby name and a hundred times better than Mylene's recent baby name.

scottishmummy · 14/04/2011 19:40

no its less machiavellian, more straight forward
its a peculiar name and i am bemused as i didnt know who "holly" was from op til she elaborated. i didnt know so many are interested in what she called baby

lol i do now

ICanSeeASeagullsFoot · 14/04/2011 19:41

Aw... I clicked on this thinking someone was being unreasonable about what someone called their Babybel. I call mine Barbara-Ann and thought others might have joined me in giving human names to Babybel

scottishmummy · 14/04/2011 19:42

lol baby belle.cheesetastic

JoyceEasterBunnyaby · 14/04/2011 19:52

Surely the opinion asked for was what people think of the name, not whether MNers should be interested?

Mamavoo - I think you're right - esp when people have put comments about what newspaper they read!! How pretentious!!

I like the name Belle, but not sure it goes with the surname. I agree that alliteration in names can be hard to pull off!

WannabeNigella · 14/04/2011 19:55

Couldn't have put it better myself Joyce. Belle is pretty enough but doesn't work with the surname in my opinion.

Baby Belle Baldwin - it's a lip smacking smacker!

LadyOfTheManor · 14/04/2011 20:01

So some of you ACTUALLY care what another woman names her child?

diddl · 14/04/2011 20:04

Wouldn´t be my choice, but then it´s not my baby!

And having the same initial name as surname-she´s not the only person.

And here´s a thought-maybe her husband chose the name!

FoofffyShmoofffer · 14/04/2011 20:05

Grin Scottishmummy - truly.

Honeybee79 · 14/04/2011 20:06

Belle is nice but not with that surname.

A bit pissed off with myself for being interested tbh!

diddl · 14/04/2011 20:12

But most of the time she´ll be called Belle.

We´re rarely called by both names.

I like it personally.

Roseflower · 14/04/2011 20:18

I like the name Belle- its was on my 4 years old list for potential names if dc2 is a girl.

(But I do instantly think of Beauty and the Beast and worry about the undertones of beastality in that tale so it kinda puts me off)

But I do like it.

diddl · 14/04/2011 20:18

I also think if I loved a name enough I would still use it if even if it didn´t flow especially well with the surname.

carriedababi · 15/04/2011 00:02

sounds like bell end to me! lol

this whole thing has been way ott though ffs
get some privacy you knobheads
don't tell the world every bloody thing!

congrats on wee belle though hope as is well.

CKHussy · 23/05/2011 12:16

Having named my daughter Belle last September I think it's the most wonderful name in the world and am really pi$$ed off that bland HW has brought it to wider attention!

I named her for my late mum who was Isabel, and though she gets called everything from Smelly Belly Belle too Bell-ish we are yet to call her Belle-end!
