The old one's cracked and neither of us knows how to get the old fittings off. Is that too incompetent of us?

Thank you, grovel. I can't believe DIY prowess came out top in a survey of what women look for in a man (sorry can't link as it was years ago but I've been startled ever since).

I went to the garage to look for WD40 but glazed over en route and ended up moving the recycling boxes around.

Op - go for it!
I grew up in a house where all the DIY jobs were done properly. Dad and brothers all had/have trades.
DH has good intentions, but doesn't have the experience to get DIY jobs done properly. And I'm useless with that stuff.
I keep a list of all the little jobs I want done, and have a good handyman come in and do them all in one go for me. Stuff like swopping out toilet seat.. hanging pictures, sealing floors, fixing broken chairs, what ever..

Doesn't cost a lot and the jobs are properly done. And I don't have to nag anybody, maybe just wait a week or two until my my handyman can fit me in..
