I mean I'm normally a 12 but I couldn't get my little toe in some of their size 12's, whereas other size 12's they sell fit fine, hmph!

Topshop used to be the correct sizes, i.e a size 10 was a 28 inch waist etc. It seems in the last 2 years they have been making their sizes smaller, money saving perhaps?

Top Shops size 12 skinnies are the most perfect fit on me.

I'm mid forties.

GingerWrath · 17/04/2011 21:00

Topshop have always been a nightmare. I am a size 8 but their jeans/trousers are always too long!

superv1xen · 17/04/2011 21:01

i love topshops clothes but going in there makes me feel a)old and b)depressed. and if i have the dc with me i REALLY feel i shouldn't be in there, my boring old self and my kids and pushchair getting in the way of these trendy, thin beautiful youngsters. :(

god, even saying "youngsters" makes me sound old!

jinglebelly · 17/04/2011 21:03

I don't remember topshop being cool when i was a teen (i'm 30 now) it was always a bit middle of the road

The problem with trendy shops when you're past 30 is thet're all so damn pricey - thinking of Reiss etc - the cheaper ones are a bit dowdy (BHS) i get a lot of stuff from H&M.....

i agree jingle i am 31 and tbh when i was 16 it was ok for basics but actually quite boring, miss selfridge was where it was at back then :o

I hate topshop it always depresses me. Its for people with the figure of a young boy and i am only 20. Size 6 in next though VERY kind with there sizes i think!

EggyWaffle · 17/04/2011 21:40

I like Topshop jeans. I get into their size 8 and I definitely do not have the figure of a young boy. I think they are pretty true to size, which is better for me than the shops which have vanity sized us smaller people out of their market.

superv1xen · 18/04/2011 09:58

i am size 8 in topshop. that doesn't mean their jeans look good on me - oh no! they make me look so weird shaped :( probably coz my figure isnt straight up and down and flab free :(

MrsMustardSeed · 18/04/2011 11:07

Agree that topshop sizes are straight up and down. I was going to buy some stuff online from there, so checked out their sizing chart before I ordered. Turns out my waist is just between size 6/8 but my hips would only just squeeze into a 12! No jeans from there for me then Grin

Dorothy Perkins had some nice jeans that fit me, in the size I expected. Don't normally shop there as for some reason I had a weird prejudice that their clothes wouldn't last, but I have been wearing/washing them all the time and they haven't lost their shape.
