I had a neighbour that played music all day, screamed that my baby was a blind, black bastard/monkey (he had mixed heritage children too!) and salshed my tyres on a regualr basis. He also tried to get into my car to beat me up once.

He was a drug dealer too.

We lived in the most expensive area and our neighbour was a plastic surgeon.

I went to court and gave evidence via videolink once i had fled the poperty. He was found not guilty as he was careful never to behave badly when i had visitors etc.

He died of stomach cancer about 6 years ago i heard.
(sorry if this thread has been done to death)

pinksticks

My friend has been harrassed by her neighbour's grown up daughter on and off for two years because she's gay. Thankfully the daughter doesn't live there but recently she found out that her own (my friend's) daughter has been assigned the primary school that mad daughter works at as a TA. Friend wrote to the LA and school to express her concerns and next thing she knew the police knocked at her door trying to serve her with a caution for harrassment! The copper didn't know or care about all the recorded harrassment that is in file from this woman to my friend. Even when she explained that she was the target of homophobic abuse and harrassment from this woman he still tried to serve the caution :( AFAIK neighbour hasn't ever been served with caution Hmm

EricNorthmansMistress - are our police force so busy that they do not have time before they serve a caution to an inniocent person? Disgusting and frightening.

Like you, OP, and honeybee, my neighbours from hell could fill a book.

The most recent was a drug dealer from hell who blasted music night and day and had fights all the time in there and punched the walls.

His 'clients' would bang on his back door - his was the ground floor flat - all night shrieking, coming out of their skin for needing to fix.

He fled after screwing over some big time gangsters in Glasgow, who then came over trying to get in there. One night around 3AM I heard light tapping on my door. I went to it and whispered , 'Yes'. A man with a heavy Russian or Eastern European accent said, 'We were just checking if there was anyone else in this close.' I said, 'Yes, me and my 3 children.' He said, 'Sorry to trouble you,' and slipped £50 through the letter slot.

The next week, this neighbour from hell's body was found on a rural road outside Glasgow.

I can't say I was sorry he wasn't our neighbour anymore, the bastard.

lilbod · 13/04/2011 20:25

My parents neightbour (of about 20+ years) turned a bit psychotic a few years before he moved out, he hated anyone parking outside his house, - even a fraction, he would go ape.
Anyway he started shouting over the fence that my parents were smack heads! and he caused damage to my parents plants my leaning over and pulling clumps out! My mum eventually bought a cctv camera and caught him on camera and informed the police, he admitted all of it (had no choice) and was forced to pay damages, he eventually moved away.
It was a bit bad though, considering both my parnets have medical training and performed CPR on him when he was having a heart attack and saved his life several years before all this!

EricNorthmansMistress · 13/04/2011 20:25

My current neighbours contacted the letting agent after we had been there for 5 days to complain about us, stating 'you obviously don't vet your tenants properly' - our crime? Parking in the wrong place because we didn't know it was access only, never obstructing them by the way. We also 'let our child scream in the garden' and various other things that the letting agent wouldn't tell me due to their ridiculousness Grin

It's a bit funny except that it's also horrible as it's clearly due to the fact that DH is black and foreign and they don't like that :( They ignore us if we happen to exit the house at the same time and recently the woman literally ran to her front door and knocked for her H to open frantically because we were parking on the drive with two Shock black men in the car.....Grin

hardhatdonned · 13/04/2011 20:25

Why are people such nut jobs?

pinkstinks · 13/04/2011 20:26

hi ericNorthmansMistress

Its madness isn't it, and it just makes you feel so shit when the police do nothing to help, they listened to the neighbours cries of racism and just told us to keep a diary and still did nothing! We had to move house in my GCSE year in the end, in a rush sale, my mum still wells up when she thinks about it.

Obviously its awful to hear about your poor friend too and that it still goes on, honestly peoples sexual preferences have nothing to do with anyone else and it is just ridiculous! Of course it made us as a family stronger, but we would all rather we didnt have to have gone through it.

I hope things start to look up for your friend!

neighbour on one side tried to gain access when he left the family home with an axe while the kids had to leg it out the back window. Used to watch neighbour on other side and his crew unload his 'haul' at night form his van. His wife and daughter later were up on a murder charge. My old neighbour's husband was murdered as he was the local drug dealer and sent his kids out to peddle. The family round the corner (would be IRA supporters who lived through the wall from the Master of the Orange Lodge) used to have running battle with the Orange Lodge in the street when they paraded by the house. There's more but at least life was never boring!

ongakgak · 13/04/2011 20:28

expat that is so bloody scary, at least you got fifty quid out of it. Where abbots do you live in the glorious city of Glasgow, I used to live in Partick, but pretended it was "Just off the Byres Road" so in the west end

QuittingTime · 13/04/2011 20:28

We lived in the middle of a terraced row of 2-up 2-down houses.Neighbour on one side had a disagreement with neighbour on other side and decided the best way to sort it out was by breaking the door down, dragging him out into the back alley and attempting to kick him to death. He didn't die but was in a coma for several months and has been left with a serious brain injury, requiring care for life.

We witnessed it.

House was on the market within weeks. Would have been quicker but police were treating it as a murder enquiry as poor neighbour wasn't expected to survive. Having forensics, CID etc camped on the doorstep for weeks does not add kerb appeal to a property.

Current neighbours are dull as dishwater. I love them.

BeakerTheMuppetMuppet · 13/04/2011 20:30

some of these stories are awful Sad and Shock

i had some very entertaining (but alcoholic) neighbours.
they were forever forgetting/losing their keys so they broke a window with just a large enough hole so they could put their hand in, open the downstairs window and climb in through there.
they once had a row in total silence, she stood at the top of the stairs and threw his stuff out into the garden through the open front door.
but they used to make me Sad and cry with joy when they left the front curtains open and i could see them slow dance around the living room

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 20:31

expatinscotland - that is scary as hell! Passing a £50.00 not throught he door. Big time gangster he must have been. Were you frightened, especially at 3AM - OMG!.

"I can't say I was sorry he wasn't our neighbour anymore, the bastard" - Grin

Well he will underestimate people..

Us when we were students. To the lady who lived below us I would like to unreservedly apologise for living anywhere near real human beings. (we lived there for a year and NEVER worked out where the rubbish was meant to go, our flat was used as a dosshouse for any waif or stray picked up and we were horrible neighbours) Sorry

saffy85 · 13/04/2011 20:35

The people across the way from us (their garden backed on to ours) usd to burn all sorts of horrible shit on their bonfire. Always on a gorgeous sunny day so DD didn't often get the chance to play outside while we lived there and hanging out washing was usually a no-no. Sometimes it was furniture, other times tyres, plastic and once, after bwe had moved out, apparently their cannabis plants Hmm (the bloke was questioned by the police not long after).

Early hours of the morning there's a the sound of smashing glass and a guy has burst through neighbours patio doors from the inside (dunno if he ran through the glass or was shoved) and then runs round the garden clutching a pillow and using it to defend himself against crazed cannabis burning neighbour who appears to be weilding a large knife and screaming "I'm gonna fucking kill ya!" Crazy neighbour's awful, shrill girlfriend stands in the garden screaming "you don't have to fight over me!" and "help! Someone!" and alternating between this and screeching at the neighbours to "mind their own fucking business" Hmm Confused. Police finally show up and arrest neighbour, ambulance turns up to cart pillow guy off to hospital. Not the end though. Awful shrill girlfriend then sits in the garden and sobs really fucking loudly for hours. And no I didn't feel much sympathy for her. All I could think was that she had a 3 bed semi she could go cry in. So why the hell didn't she? Angry

expatinscotland · 13/04/2011 20:35

No, the Russian/E. European, whatever they were didn't frighten me. The other ones trying to break the door down did!

I'm not in Glasgow, west of it, but this guy had apparently run away after stealing drugs and money from some thugs in Glasgow.

We've had loads of shit neighbours, most of whom blast music at all hours.

Sad
ginmakesitallok · 13/04/2011 20:36

But on the positive side we never murdered anyone...

nulliusxinxverbax · 13/04/2011 20:43

peabodyblue If someone poisened my cat I would murder them. And their family. Immediatly.
AIBU ?? ha ha.

I lived somewhere once which must have had the highest rate of idiots / slash lunatics in block.

Short version is....Whilst 8 mnths pregnant, had police kick down door while Im behind it, 8 police men run in, looking for ex tennant who stabbed a copper.
Next door neighbour, and one two doors down, discover they are both sleeping with same guy and are both pregnant. So 2 doors down decides to kick her door in, drag her out infront of her children, and kick the baby out of her. She wasnt prosecuted.
House below, growing mass of cannabis plants. When reported played race card so police ignored.
house next to that one, smack addict and dealer. visitors all hours and days.
House on the end, wierd pervy man who looks through your letterbox at night, with no top on. Used to stop all women with kids in block and make comments about their post baby bodies, and compare us to eachother. Complete with marks out of ten.
Lastly, crazy crack head who ripped down several doors in the row with an axe, looking for someone.
Thank god I no longer live there.

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 20:45

saffy85 - fab entertainment!
