who does this?

i remember seeing a story of some celeb woman, cant remember who, was it salma hayek (might not have spelt that right -she was in that old 90's vampire film with my new husband george clooney) who had visited 3rd world country and had bf a child as i think she was still bf her own, thought it was beautiful that she had done that. and she got such a lot of grief for it.

Women with an excess, who go to the trouble of expressing, storing, etc. Tiny newborns in SCBU do better on BM. Teeny babies do better on EBM than formula. Therefore women who express and donate deserve a medal. or at least, a chufty badge.

Thankyou, but it really wasn't a big deal.

I used to donate breast milk. No medal, but we do get a nice Christmas card with a Milk Bank update, and a Milk Bank calendar (think the printing must be done as a charitable donation because our local bank is very efficiently run, they wouldn't spend unnecessarily).

And when I first started I got an insulated cool bag and free bottle of hand soap (again , think this was some kind of sponsorship or promotion).

So as you can see, the rewards are plentiful and extravagant. Plus, it's really not that much extra hassle to do an extra bottle if you are expressing anyway.

OMG.. award for missing the point.

what a lovely thing to do. really lovely.

ExeterisEasy · 13/04/2011 00:53

shame it isn't promoted a bit more as perhaps more ladies would be happy to do it.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 13/04/2011 00:53

that was to ExEasy btw.

I have friends who have had incredibly premature babies, and milk hasn't come in yet because they're SO early. Donated milk may well have saved those babies lives, so thank you.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 13/04/2011 00:54
