to not understand the appeal of soaps?

They just seem miserable and completely contrived.

Obviously I'm probably not one to properly comment as I haven't ever watched one for longer than a microsecond, but am already turned off after that period of time, so my comments are not founded from extensive research.

What are the plus points?

I loved Barry Grant

I don't get the appeal either. But, whatever makes your boat float.

Yes re: Terry Sullivan - Shock - still will find the Tez, Baz and Gaz (think it was) sketch funny in the bad trackies though
calm down calm down lol

mmmmmmmmmm he did have an appeal......I liked Damon too.

I wonder what happened to some of them.

The body under the patio was the best storyline.

And shelia and bobby grants life.

Used to watch Corrie religiously when it was on twice a week, but it tried to keep up with EE in the ratings and gradually got more depressing and started to deal with ishoos so don't watch it anymore.
EE is the most depressing programme in history, even my soap addict mum gave up on it, though every time I phone her or see her I also get the entire soryline of Emmerdale/Corrie.
I would like to see a soap with someone with a happy marriage, but that doesn't exist (not being smug here, I'm a divorced single parent, but surely in real life someone is happy), it would cheer me up a bit.

It went a bit crazy towards the end though
