I've seen the word Aunty/Auntie so many times now it's looking really weird! Grin

ChairOfTheBored · 12/04/2011 11:09

Aunty. I am with Lainey and Lunatic, though am aware this may just be me being odd (the plural thing, not in agreeing with Lainey and Lunatic).

exoticfruits · 12/04/2011 11:21

It is just down to choice, I use Auntie.
It is a bit like Grandad, I realise that Granddad is correct, but it always looks odd and I take out a 'd'.

Easterfeaster · 12/04/2011 11:23

Aunty

SlightlyJaded · 12/04/2011 11:26

Auntie

AgentZigzag · 12/04/2011 15:05

Please come back and tell us why you namechanged OP, I didn't sleep a wink last night for thinking about it.

Bluemoonrising · 12/04/2011 15:16

Auntie.

cyrilsneer · 12/04/2011 15:20

Auntie.

Bonsoir Really? Was it always "Mummie" in your family?

Just curious - Mummy's more usual, isn't it...

UmYeahLikeTotally · 12/04/2011 15:21

Agree that Auntie(s) should be the plural for Aunty

hocuspontas · 12/04/2011 15:24

lol at name changing for sensitive issue!

Either way is a diminiutive for Aunt so who cares how you spell it?

Same as Nan, Nanny, Nannie, Gran, Granny, Grannie are for Grandmother.

bonkers20 · 12/04/2011 15:29

Auntie
Choose whatever gives you the largest choice of cards in Clintons.
There are hardly any with Nanny, so my Mum (RIP) often got the same one from 3 or 4 of her many grandchildren.

cyrilsneer · 12/04/2011 16:19

Ahhh bonkers... Bless...

Who has a Granny/ Grannie and who has a Nanny/ Nannie and what will we be when it's our turn?

Any thoughts about this?

scottishmummy · 12/04/2011 23:45

nan?hell no scottish slang for yer fanny
so no nan or nannie here

EasterWabbit · 13/04/2011 00:05

I had a Nandy, and a Nana (pronounced Nanar)... DD and DS have Nana (pronounced Nana) and I'd like to be Nonie... a term I've recently been introduced to by a colleague Smile

EasterWabbit · 13/04/2011 00:05

LadyOfTheManor · 13/04/2011 07:59

Aunty, Aunties.
Mummy, Mummies.
Nanny, Nannies.

It isn't rocket science.
