to blow-dry my tupperware?

Gah, packed lunches for my 4 involves mimimum of 12 plastic tubs for fruit/veg/carbs. [fumes]

They really don't dry off properly even when left overnight in the dishwasher and I cba to stand and dry them by hand with my Wills and Kate teatowel, so I just blast the top section of the dishwasher with the hairdryer and voila, everythings squeaky and ready to be filled.

I know it's a faff to lug the dryer down each morning and send an urchin back up with it, but really it's very effective and the DC love the bento-ness of their lunch and I do worry about the enviromental impact of cling film and foil used wantonly each day.

So, AIBU to stand there like a numpty blowing my boxes??

It was on a cool setting, I hasten to add.

Brilliant thread, haven't laughed that much in a long time! Blow dry chicken and stitches?! Bloody brilliant! (and dare I say, I may need to do it in the future) Grin

Time to sell the kids Chaos. Grin

Bumpsadaisie · 08/04/2011 15:20

Darling, its really much better to just pop them on the Aga overnight ... works a treat.

Honeybee79 · 08/04/2011 15:28

Fuck - a Wills and Kate tea-towel?!

SilverScarf · 08/04/2011 16:47

On a more serious note . I was told that if you open the dishwasher just after it's finished and still hot, the plastic stuff dries.

As I only put my dishwasher on at night and can't be arsed am asleep, I haven't tried it yet.

Bogeyface · 08/04/2011 16:50

I do what SilverScarf said, just open the door while it is still steamy and they are dry by the time the stuff is cool enough to take out.

Or wipe it with a tea towel which is surely far less hassle that buggering about with a hair dryer?!

Wamster · 08/04/2011 17:16

Hmm ... In the interests of good housekeeping and general household hygiene, I feel that such an action is only acceptable if people compensate by rinsing their family's wigs/hairpieces out in the dishwasher (60c. No detergent).

Fillybuster · 08/04/2011 17:26

Although I have been known to blow-dry under my breasts.

YouaretooniceNOT · 08/04/2011 17:28

Kitchen roll?

Wamster · 08/04/2011 17:50

Blow-drying under boobs? Does it give them lift and volume or something?!

ashamedandconfused · 08/04/2011 17:55

I'm another under-boob blow drier!

so much more comfy than having them damp and sticking

and I blow dry me toes too, so ner!

Wamster · 08/04/2011 18:00

I do the toe thing, I think it's about stopping athlete's foot and other nasties. It probably doesn't!

SilverScarf · 08/04/2011 18:37

I just could not be bothered to blow dry my boobs or my toes, a quick wipe of a towel does my poor unkempt flappy bits.

Do you actually get the hairdryer out specifically or do you use it on your hair too?

Wamster · 08/04/2011 18:55

No. My hair is usually left to dry in a turban-type towel. I also brush my teeth with bicarb and gargle with cider vinegar and my salad dressings always have a 'fresh, minty breath' taste.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 08/04/2011 19:30

How on earth do you have fresh, minty salad?

Confused [true]

YABU, put their food in wet pots!

Tee2072 · 08/04/2011 19:38

We once had a fresh minty holiday dinner when my mum and I realized the silver needed polishing and a) we were out of silver polish, b) toothpaste works really well for this and c) it was barely an hour until dinner was to be served.

We had the grandkids (my mum's, I don't have any grandkids) lined up in a silver polishing via every tube of toothpaste in the house assembly line.

I am overjoyed to have yet another euphemism for female genatalia.
