to eat DS's Easter egg?

screw it, if I am I don't care, it was worth it Grin

I'm stuck indoors looking after a very grumpy nearly 2 year old recovering from a nasty D&V bug, he's finally having a nap, I'm nearly 26 weeks pg and was desperate for chocolate.

It was sat on top of the fridge (Granny left it for him at the weekend) calling to me.

Bad mummy.

But will you be a happier mummy for eating it, therefore making your family happier? If so, eat without guilt - it's practically your duty to do so.

worraliberty · 05/04/2011 12:28

As long as you can replace it with the same one.

takethatlady · 05/04/2011 12:33

My mum used to eat our easter eggs. She used to make us leave them in the living room overnight, and then when we got up some would be missing (we have lots of aunties and uncles and did get a lot of chocolate).

It annoyed me massively. But she still thinks she was right to do it Grin

kreecherlivesupstairs · 05/04/2011 12:35

Two YO children don't need chocolate. Fact.
There is no need to replace the egg with one exactly the same either.
DD had half a bag of chocolate eggs from a hunt she did on Friday. She left them in her school bag over the weekend, I found them yesterday morning and they are in the cellar waiting for easter when I will regift them.
She hasn't noticed and she is 9.11

worraliberty · 05/04/2011 12:37

No-one needs chocolate and how do you know the 2yr old won't get upset if there's a different egg there? We don't know the toddler hasn't spotted it.

Bicnod · 05/04/2011 12:41

worral - it was just a smarties egg so can replace it. Think I'd better do that closer to Easter though as otherwise I might end up accidentally eating a lot of smarties eggs.

TLP - Definitely a happier mummy for eating it Grin

TTL - that's so funny, did she admit it at the time?! I used to pinch my sister's easter eggs when we were little. I would always eat mine in one go [pig emoticon] and she would be all smug and save hers for weeks until I literally couldn't resist anymore.

I never understand the need to eat a childrens easter egg, it isn't yours to eat, you don't need chocolate. It's just greed.

Bicnod · 05/04/2011 12:43

x-posts

DS definitely not aware of the egg.

I have to disagree that no-one needs chocolate - I need chocolate Wink

I've eaten 3 easter eggs I brought in for my DD so far Blush also ate the one my MIL brought for me and gave DD her 2 easter eggs early so I wouldn't eat them either in my defence however I am on day 9 of an incredibly heavy period Sad

Bicnod · 05/04/2011 12:44

x-posts again

YES - definitely greed, I don't dispute that.

turdass · 05/04/2011 12:46

go for it! If I had one in the house right now, I know what I'd be doing!

Also, probably the baby needed the milk in the chocolate for calcium therefore you did the RIGHT THING and it was really only for the sake of your unborn child's healthy limbs.

Nagoo · 05/04/2011 12:47

you don't need chocolate? Lies! damned lies!

seriosly, YANBU, it would be a bit wrong if he knew it was there, but what he doesn't know.....

replace it nearer the time. Helping my Ds through his Christmas selection packs is top notch parenting in my book. Too much chocolate is bad for them.

worraliberty · 05/04/2011 12:47

Jesus do any of you have any willpower or buy your own sweets?

Torcher You've eaten 4 Easter eggs and 3 of them weren't yours to eat? Confused

Do you teach your children about self control? Confused

kreecherlivesupstairs · 05/04/2011 12:49

FFS, it was a joke. Of course nobody needs chocolate.
This is, I assumed a lighthearted thread.

nickelbabyhatcher · 05/04/2011 12:50

owrraliberty - if you makes you feel better, I never eat food that isn't mine, even chocolate.
I don't think I could handle the guilt feeling.

nickelbabyhatcher · 05/04/2011 12:50

ooh, i spelled your name wrong. sorry Blush

Flower1000 · 05/04/2011 12:52

Hey, any unattended chocolate in our household is fair game, your 2 yr old should have left it on display :o

Bicnod · 05/04/2011 12:52

Torcher I bow to you - that is pretty good going, and entirely understandable given the circumstances.

turdass - calcium, yes, good point. That's another thing I can mention in my defence when DH tells me off later Wink

I haven't eaten the tube of smarties yet. Does that count as self control?

OP posts:
worraliberty · 05/04/2011 12:52

Lol owrraliberty does have a certain ring to it Grin

NarcolepsyQueen · 05/04/2011 13:04

Think of it as an endowment against future dentistry bills - you are doing them a favour in the long term Grin

GandTiceandaslice · 05/04/2011 13:07

I've eaten 2 eater eggs already & am considering eating another 1.
I shall replace them though. Closer to Easter though Hmm

LouMacca · 05/04/2011 13:12

YANBU. I ate my DDs Creme Egg Easter Egg yesterday - god it tasted so good Grin DD didn't know and I will replace it Wink

TorcherQueenie · 05/04/2011 13:24

worraliberty DD has pleanty of self control I'm the one who doesn't Grin On the upside I brought all 3 of those eggs on offer. Saved me buying any normal chocolate.

takethatlady · 05/04/2011 13:32

bicnod yes she was totally brazen about it Grin. She'd just say we had enough chocolate as it was and she could have what she liked! Not sure whether I'm still a bit Angry or if I just find it funny :)

LittleOneMum · 05/04/2011 13:32

I'm not pregnant.
I've not had any bad days recently.
I'm not premenstrual.
Yet I ate DS's Easter Egg yesterday whilst watching the final episode of series 4 of Mad Men.
Flame me!
PS He's not getting it back. He's 3. He doesn't need a whole massive egg.
