My Mum thinks i'm worried unduly (but then this is the woman who thinks Bowen is a rational medical cure all treatment) about having to go into hospital to have facet joint diagnostic injections. There is no guaruntee they will get rid of the pain and the leaflet that came with my appointment letter has put the shits up me if i'm perfectly honest!

So AIBU to be worried about such a relatively minor procedure?

I have no idea what the procedure is or what it involves (I am imagining injections into joints which does not sound pleasant), however of course YANBU to be worried!

Plenty of people are very scared about anything remotely medical. You are having a treatment you haven't had before and no doubt the letter explained complications and risks so it is bound to worry you.

I won't say "don't worry, it will be fine" but I do hope everything goes well and it does work to ease your pain.

If you feel you need more information I would ring them and ask them to refer you to someone to speak to about it

I had this procedure done a few years ago, it's not the nicest thing to have done but you will hopefully get some relief from the pain afterwardsbut it can take a few days to kick in. I had mine done under x-ray and found it quite fascinating to watch [weird emoticon] ! You'll be fine and well looked after by the nurses, mine actually took the piss that my mascara was running!

Of course YANBU to be worried. The hospital has to tell you about the risks (someone will probably come along and tell you again before the procedure is carried out) because legally you must give informed consent. If you have specific questions can you talk to your GP or phone the hospital as mamas suggests? If it's more of a general worry could someone go with you?
