To still be sitting here in my nighdress?

My OH and I have had an awful 10 days. OH found out about 10 days ago that job will be made redundant in July. We knew this was coming. About 4 days ago,out of the blue, I found out I was going to be made redundant. Then on Friday a woman reversed into my car in the car park (I was stationery) and then immediately said I had driven into her! There were no witnesses.

WE are normally busy at the weekend, but I just can't seem to motivate myself to do anything and OF feels the same. So far only really mums netted, watched tv and played computer games this weekend. I keep thinking in 10 minutes I'll get up and do x,y or z.

ABU to not have done anything this weekend?

Generally in the case of a hit up the arse in the car the driving who is behind is at fault.

Stand your ground.

Sorry to hear of your bad news re the redundancies, hopefully you be able to find suitable jobs before the redundancy happens.

Oops you are not being unreasonable. !

RosieAndGin · 03/04/2011 14:07

YADNBU!! Hope things work out for you

inchoccyheaven · 03/04/2011 14:09

No definitely not bu. Even without all those things that have happened to you, you are still not bu to not do stuff at the weekend if you don't want to sometimes. You will pick yourself up soon and get it done in half the time because you want to, not because you feel as if you have to.

d0gFace · 03/04/2011 14:10

YANBU, I hope things get better for you.

Fabby, if one car is stationary and one is moving it doesn't matter which way either was pointing, the driver of the moving car is at fault. This would even apply when the stationary car was broken down on a blind bend as the Highway Code says you should at all times be travelling so that you can stop in the distance you can see to be clear, any failure to stop is the drivers responsibility. This means that even if the other driver reversed into the OP's front bumper, the other driver is still at fault because the OP's car was stationary. If the OP had her handbrake on and was in neutral (even if the engine was on) it's even clearer legally.

That said, the insurers will probably take it as "knock for knock" because with 2 conflicting stories there is no proof who was moving and who wasn't. That means you will both have higher premiums next year. If you have the other drivers number OP it might be worth explaining this to her and seeingif she wants to drop it and each pay thier own repairs. I know this isn't a fair outcome on you as you did nothing wrong, but if the ding was more minor than the loss of your NCB would be it could be worth considering.

YANBU - sounds like you need a relaxing weekend , hope things start to get better soon

Underachieving · 03/04/2011 14:18

YANBU, sometimes it takes a few days to get over bad news, if you are still this down a week from now start thinking seriously about how to put plans in place to lift yourself back up again. For now though, you probably just need a few days to lick your wounds, that's normal.

Honeybee79 · 03/04/2011 14:31

YANBU.
Sorry to hear that you're having a shitty time.
Definitely not your fault re the car smash.
Take it easy today.

Oh dear, this sounds like a bad run of luck (although as they say bad luck runs in threes, you might be over it)! Seriously it is hard out there at the moment, job insecurity really does eat away at you. Hope you do both find something else soon, I think a day in pj's is more than acceptable, although I am not the best person to ask as I regularly spend Sun in my pjs and let the children do too, as six days a week we are up and out early and dressed, so I like to have a lazy day every now and again.

doormat · 03/04/2011 15:27

nah it isnt unreasonable, i am in my jarmies all weekend as i am a lazy slattern on weekends.....
take it easy xxx
