to hand trifle ingredients to dd and tell her to get on with it? (she doesn't like trifle!)

I bought trifle ingredients today for a nice strawberry trifle. I stopped drinking coffee yesterday and tonight I have the headache from hell. I know from previous experience I'm going to still have a bit of a headache tomorrow morning and I really CBA to make the sodding trifle. I should have bought a cheap and nasty ready-made.

Dd is 13 and hates trifle - the only ingredient she actually likes is the custard. AIBU to ask her to make the bloody thing tomorrow? (can guilt her into it appeal to her better nature on account of it being Mothering Sunday). Grin

I would ask dh but, honestly, I've never seen trifle presented as a variation of Eton Mess but that's what we'd end up with. Plus the kitchen-meets-cake-explosion I'd be faced with afterwards.

She's 12. If you want her to make a trifle, jsut tell her to make a trifle. You're the boss.

Thisisyesterday I was joking and making a play on your name. Winter did not seem to get the memo though and still thinks that it is in fact yesterday. Perhaps your name confused her. Anywho come back and enlighten us Knock-Knock

Triflegate!

Well I got a lovely breakfast in bed yesterday, yes I did have the expected headache from hell Angry but I was expecting it. I asked dd and she was a bit Hmm about making it but I reminded her about all the lovely food she's made in Cookery at school, and bribed her with the chocolate cake she nicely said she'd make it. (she wrecked the kitchen but oh well...)

I told her "make the jelly, break up the fingers, pour a bit of sherry on, pour the jelly on, mix in the strawberries and when it's set put cold custard and whipped cream on top"

I went to get a glass of sherry from my NEW BOTTLE when I started doing dinner - there was a quarter of the bottle gone. No kidding.

The trifle was very, very, very nice! But for some reason the jelly didn't set very well. Grin

I won't be driving after eating it. Grin
