I am too scared to open the links as I am VERY frightened of the S word

But am also strangely intrigued by your responses

Can someone tell me in arachnophobe-friendly words what it is please Grin

twinkytonk · 02/04/2011 21:42

I'm very scared of them too.

It's webs all over trees.

Mrswhiskerson · 02/04/2011 21:43

tHat tree is my worst nightmare

LoveLeonardCohen · 02/04/2011 21:43

(shudder) spiders

Dreya · 02/04/2011 21:44

I know it's going to disturb me and so I can't look. But I want to. No I don't. Oh no. Confused I looked at a link posted a couple of months back, of a horrid growth, and I still can't get the image out of my head. I think I'm going to look.

knockinonyerdoor · 02/04/2011 21:47

There are no spiders in the photos notnow. Not even close-ups of the webs. Just photos of trees looking sort of... shrouded. If that's even a word Grin

PelvicFloorsOfSteel · 02/04/2011 21:47

They're strangely beautiful! And very useful, as the article says, reducing malaria. I'd much rather have spiders than mosquitoes and flies.

Ingles2 · 02/04/2011 21:47

I'm with Meglet. It's beautiful. I don't like spiders particularly but I'd love to see as tree like that.

Dreya · 02/04/2011 21:47

I looked. It wasn't so bad. Bizbee you're spot on. Eerie indeed.

DramaInPyjamas · 02/04/2011 21:49

It's creepy.. but in a beautiful, weird way.. not scary, horrible.

Wouldn't like to be anywhere near it though incase they all fell out on my head or something.. eww.

expatinscotland · 02/04/2011 21:49

I've got this insatiable urge to fire a rocket launcher at those trees and torch all the spiders.

ShavingGodfreysPrivates · 02/04/2011 21:51

This picture was around long before April Fools day, I saw alink to it last week.

YANBU to dislike the idea of thousands of spiders living in those trees

notnowbernard · 02/04/2011 21:51

No... decision made, I'm not looking

Am on my own tonight and can't handle intrusive thoughts about webs and their owners [fucking pathetic emoticon]

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 02/04/2011 21:53

Beautiful but also makes my skin crawl!!

FebreezeYourJeans · 02/04/2011 22:02

Looks like the broccoli in my fridge drawer Grin

FirstVix · 02/04/2011 22:03

Read that all those spiders have reduced malaria due to all those spiders gobbling up the mosquitos.
Looks surreal.

Jacinda · 02/04/2011 22:06

Oh, it's beautiful. Trees in veils. The nature is mourning with people.

nobiggy · 02/04/2011 22:14

Those spiders have been busy!

mummynoseynora · 02/04/2011 22:16

I feel sick

MittzyBittzyTeenyWeeny · 02/04/2011 22:21

That is awesome, although I can see why people wouldn't like it.

tomhardyismydh · 02/04/2011 22:30

you could have produced a spider warning in title.

seriously i will struggle to leave my seat now let alone sleep tonight.

LifeIsButtercream · 02/04/2011 22:48

Very beautiful, and I guess the reduced mozzie population was probably a good thing for people who live in that area - although I now feel very very itchy........ shudder

rantingranter · 02/04/2011 22:55

I think they are amazing (and I can see why they look creepy).

I'm sure there is a group of spiders that live in the Amazon or another rainforest that do a similar thing. Their combined webs can stretch for miles.

A brilliant example of survival and adjusting to your surroundings.

MortaIWombat · 02/04/2011 23:06

The caterpillars of a moth do this too.
In England. Sleep well, guys. Grin

Bird cherry tree ermine moth

edam · 02/04/2011 23:26

Wow. Both links are beautiful.
