...and to be glad that the plan has now fallen thru?

In case of emergency full coverage would be helpful. I am more annoyed by people playing music thru phones than chatting.

I want them to introduce signal in the tube!

amberleaf · 02/04/2011 09:52

Im another one who thinks its no different from 2 people talking.

I think people are just annoyed because they can only hear 1 side of the convo.

Also this is one of those issues that we are meant to have a problem with-I blame Dom Joly.

Great thread. I had no idea there were so many people hung up on trivialities here!
I'm not too bothered about people talking normally on the phone (eg to tell your other half your train is late and can they pick up the kids) but some people talk so loudly they don't even need the damn phone.
My particular bête noir is someone playing a game on their phone with the sound on. Makes me consider stifling the noise by hiding it up their rectum.

Oops

Please can it be banned? I travel a long way to uni (200 miles) and you can put money on it that if I get in the quiet coach, I'll just have fallen asleep or got some work when some twat starts yelling and responds to the train guard asking him to shut up with 'But this call is IMPORTANT.

Honestly, every bloody time. And they're not the same person every time either, although they do frequently appear to be wearing the same suit and sometimes sharing the same moustache.

I enjoy the fact that there is no signal on the tube. When i look around the tube u see so many people reading books or papers instead of using technology. I love it! Im always intrigued to see what books people are reading too. There was a guy in his 20's standing in the middle of the carriage the other day reading Peter Pan :)

Eating on the tube or any other form of transport is what annoys me more though. Some kids came on the tube with bags of Mcdonalds burgers and fries and proceeded to eat them, then left the rubbish behind so the smell lingered. AND yesterday when i was on the train 2 guys sitting near me ate their massive burgers on the train, they said 'I bet everyone in the carriage hates us right now' ..that would be correct. Its just the smell, cant people have some thought for others and wait to eat when they get OFF the train?! I dont want to be sat there smelling fried food the whole way. Its also quite unhygenic, if u think of all the crumbs and ketchup everywhere and someone else has to sit in that seat after.

I remember being on a crowded commuter train coming out of London to Bristol maybe 20+ years ago. There were definitely not so many mobiles around at the time.

One bloke received a call, this was around 7:30pm, the poor bloke then had to say goodnight to all his kids in succession. The entire carrige was silent and we listened as he told each of his kids he loved them and to sleep well. To me it was heart wretching stuff, but obviously a decision he and his DP had made.

I suppose you could argue that at least he spoke to them, but on a train! As I mentioned, this was a long time ago, and maybe quite common nowadays.

I love listening to people on their phones Blush I had to restrain myself from offering advice today though. It might have been a step too far.

I always use my phone while commuting as that is 30 mins of work time each way for me therefore it is 1 hour of my working day that would otherwise be tagged onto the end of my day. so while you lot can have a leisurely read I am working :)
