There are two types of lavender smells though, aren't there?

Exhibit one: anything which smells of fresh lavender/lavender oil/expensive aromatherapy bath products - lovely
Exhibit two: old lady lavender. Soap, draw liners etc.

I love the first kind

Oh god yes, fake rose is horrible too. Like strawberry flavouring - nothing like the real thing.

I love Lavender. I grow it, dry it and sew it into nice stuff.

However, there was a poster called 'lav' who was totally bonkers years ago.

Lavender and camomile essential oils are lovely together.

Lavender oil helps me if I can't get to sleep.

I love lavender plants in the garden.

I love lavender essential oil. I did, however, make the mistake of putting it in my iron. Once it'd heated up a couple of times it really did smell of stale piss. Not a great perfume for DH's shirts...
Unheated, though, it's fabulous, and it takes the itch out of chilblains like nothing else.

Lavender oil in the bath after a third degree tear was rather welcome, actually... Grin

JingleMum · 31/03/2011 21:25

i'm (almost) a qualified aromatherapist... trust me, lavender is not overrated!

TiggyD · 31/03/2011 21:28

Old women smell of either lavender or lily of the valley.

The plant is nice but it's smell is overused.
