Aww - it's lovely when they do stuff like that isn't it. One of mine once called me a "Top Banana" - LOL

cornsilk678 · 29/03/2011 22:34

awww [smile[
one of mine said that I was like Miss Honey Grin

tethersend · 29/03/2011 22:36

My year 10 class offered to nick me a moped once. A pink one.

I was genuinely touched.

bladderack · 29/03/2011 22:48

Aww - one of mine told me to 'scrape out' and then told me to 'fuck off'.Sad

Salmotrutta · 29/03/2011 22:53

Oh, I've been told to Eff Off too bladderack - it's sort of a rite of passage, innit?

Giggle78 · 29/03/2011 22:59

I don't know what to scrape out means - and thank goodness it sounds horrid.

Another good thing happened today. Myself and two colleagues were walking down the corridor and later this Year 7 said he'd seen us and we looked like superheros!

So I am not only the best teacher in the world but I also look like a superhero!! Hurrah for people saying good things!

I was really chuffed once when I found 'Miss Lurcherlover is fit" scrawled on my classroom curtains.

The next day, another charming pupil had added a prominent NT to the "is"....

DH was offered the chance to go clubbing with his form group. He is 53 but they think he is marvellous.

I'm not a teacher but was at my son's play last night. Their teacher had arranged the whole thing, rehearsed loads with the children and supported them all the way through it. All the parents think this teacher rocks anyway because she is a bit nuts, gets fantastic results but takes no nonsense from her pupils. At the end of the play the headteacher thanked everyone and specifically this teacher - the whole class was cheering her and jumping up and down and running up to hug her and she was so touched she was in tears. Her pupils seem so fond of her, it was genuinely lovely to see.

jimper · 30/03/2011 08:34

I've discovered the best compliment from my secondary class is when they call me 'dude'.....

Anyone needing inspiration should look at this

:)

onadifferentplanettoday · 30/03/2011 08:37

I walked into my class one day and someone had written in big letters on the board Miss oadpt ROCKS! It makes you feel all the stress is worthwhile.

bonkers20 · 30/03/2011 08:42

Awwww, I'm not a teacher but this is SO nice to read.
I love it when I hear DS talk about a certain teacher as being awesome or cool.

ajandjjmum · 30/03/2011 08:45

DD is 17 and having huge problems with Biology. We have now got a tutor to try and boost her confidence as well as her knowledge, and she said last night 'I didn't know Biology could be fun'.

Hats off to tutor.

My sons year 6 primary teacher was fantastic and ds made him cry in public when ds2 won a trophy for the interschool for cross country and said sir if you had not believed in me I would not be here.

To put in perspective ds had been ill and had a ventolin pump worn 24/7 the year before and was very poorly and his teacher spotted potential and helped him train and spent ages boosted his confidence including giving up his own time .Though said teahcer is now cussing as ds plays rugby and his team recenlty kicked arse . against the out of school team his old teacher coaches .

But the teacher was so pleased to see the change in Ds and a lot was down to that teacher and I could never thank him enough

goingroundthebend4 · 30/03/2011 08:47

oh andds2 is now taller than his old teacher was funny to see that !!.With my permission they are going to keep in contact.

weegiemum · 30/03/2011 08:50

When it's shit, its really shit.

But when it is going well there is no job like it.

I teach adults with literacy issues and recently a student of mine who could not read a word 5 years ago got into teacher training college. I admit it - I cried!

Halle-bloody-lujah for threads like this!

sixlostmonkeys · 30/03/2011 08:59

Last week at parent's evening I started the conversation with Ds's art teacher by thanking him for being such a great teacher and inspiration to DS. Told him how DS spends all his free time painting and now loves art. The poor man was nearly in tears. He told me that this is reason he wanted to teach but he had felt he wasn't suceeding - until now :)
He said he would go home and tell his wife, who, like me has to listen to the words "do I have to go to school again tomorrow?" each evening.

albertcamus · 30/03/2011 10:30

It's got to be one of the best jobs in the world. I have looooooots of responsibility and my school does not serve the best area in the world. However, the daily dose of laughter, support and meeting challenges while being creative and part of a community is a huge motivator. I love it :)

stoppinchingthedummy · 30/03/2011 10:53

Cornsilk - My biggest thing is to find a teacher like miss honey to teach my dc - My ds's teacher is lovely but its taken us 6 months to understand each other Hmm :)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 30/03/2011 12:14

Miss Honey isn't always the best fit though. DD had a teacher who was really nauseatingly nice. DD failed to be inspired by her.
The best teacher she's ever had is the one she has now. This woman is older (55ish) and very no nonsense. She tells DD it is, no sugar coating or tip toeing round. I adore her and will be very sorry to say goodbye.
