To think it is rude to use someone elses hairbrush?

I have one of those Tangleteezers for my DDs hair...they're both curly and it works well. MIL is visiting from abroad and she keeps picking it up and brushing her hair with it.

should I say somrthing? Hide it? She's got loads of dandruff and its gross to me...surely it's rude/overstepping boundries?

AIBU??

I grew up being told that you could catch alopecia from someone elses hat or hairbrush Hmm and everyone in my house had their own hairbrush.

In DH's family it's a free for all, but I refuse to go that far. DH uses my hairbrush which I can deal with (however he has also been known to use my toothbrush [vom] and not even tell me [double vom] does anyone know if that's grounds for divorce? Wink

I wouldn't like someone using my hairbrush either.
ShinyMoon - I think my DP sometimes uses mine too, he can never remember which toothbrush is his...yuk.

Shiney - absolutely!

"Needless to say that the robe was binned!!!"

What an appaling waste. Why didn't you jsut wash it?

I really don't see why anyone would have a problem with someone else using their hairbrush. It's hair, for goodness sake. They're not shoving your toothbrush up their arse. But if you really have a problem then just wash it after they've used it. (Maybe a soak in bleach if they have shoved it up their arse.)

Lol Needanewname, what is an 'influence poo'? I can't stop cracking up at that. You're bonkers for throwing away a perfectly good bathrobe by the way. Why didn't you just wash it in a hot wash?

I have no problem with someone borrowing my hairbrush at all. I might feel a bit ick if someone had dandruff, but all you need to do is rinse it in warm water afterwards. I think I can be a bit of an anal clean freak too, but really don't understand why people are grossed out by this. What do you think is going to happen?

ShesEverSoFamous · 29/03/2011 15:37

I don't understand why it's so yuck? Your MIL doesn't have nits does she?
You do know a hairdresser doesn't have time to wash/sterilize brushes and combs after every customer don't you? :o

Needanewname · 29/03/2011 16:02

Lmao. Bloody autocorrect, how on earth it chained big to influence I'll never know!!!!

Yes I know I should have washed it but no, one of my (many) peculiarities! I don't know why but for some reason (to me) the robe is more personal than a towel!!!

Glad I've made you all laugh! Me too!!

People sweat a lot from their heads, other people can have greasy dirty hair... I don't want to share their sweat or have their dirty greasy bleurgh left in my brush... seems entirely reasonable to me and a bit odd not to mind it.
