Hi,
I would like to have a Fundraisingparty for my birthday this year. There will be around 100 people invited. My birthday is in October but I would like to do it a month before so that we could also use the Terrace&Garden area. AIBU to celebrate my birthday a month before or should I wait until October, just use the dining room and maybe put some heating outside on the terrace?

Hi,
It is for a charity. I would finance the party with my own money (as it is my birthday) and would give the all money paid for it to charity (not just the profit of it). I'll be new in the city then (It's Bruxelles) and I thought it would be also a great idea to meet new people etc. The house I will be living in is just perfect for things like this.
Sorry for short reply but writing from BB) N

I'm not sure about meeting new people by inviting them to a fundraiser... It's a bit of a high-pressure introduction. Make it be a bit more birthday, with fundraising instead of presents, and people will feel more relaxed about it, and probably will be happy to be able to tailor their contribution in size, to fit their relationship with you.

On the other issue - moving the date - I think YANBU at all.

Okay. Thanks for your advice. I will be then be living in Brussels and networking fundraising parties are quite common, as are wine tastings for charity and concerts. I still have a long time to plan at least :D

Oh, if it's culturally normal, then go right ahead! Apologies for the cavilling. Smile
