Sent text which was less than polite about colleauge to her instead of to my friend!!! Aaaagggghhhh. Have sent grovelling apology and got no response! What now? Don't want argument/bad feeling at work.

vallhala I know she's been on fb so would have had my message.
Ah, fuck it, as someone said 'worse things happen'!

OP posts:
Vallhala · 27/03/2011 19:16

Oh shit. :(

Then, fuck it, you've made a mistake, you have apologised and will do in person asap, there's little or nothing else you CAN do. Unless you said something REALLY nasty the situation seems to say a lot more about the colleague than it does you.

Deep breath, head held high and move on... :)

NorthernGobshite · 27/03/2011 19:19

Oh fuck it, doubt she's on here....I wrote "I could slap for saying [some bollocks about politics] on fb". Nothing earth shattering!
If I got it, I would accept the apology and probably laugh!

OP posts:
blinder · 27/03/2011 19:21

I hope she doesn't try to interpret 'slap' literally. But unless you phone her you'll have to wait till tomorrow I suppose! Can you phone her laughing about it?

NorthernGobshite · 27/03/2011 19:26

blinder I don't think she will, I think she knows thats how I speak and don't mean it. Work would not take it seriously I don't think as its obviously just a stupid mistake.

Chloe55 · 27/03/2011 19:27

Yes Northern you are an idiot Grin but so easily done too. I'd leave it now, you have sent an apology, let her do with it as she pleases - if she wants to make an issue out of it then try not to rise to it, you can not do anymore than apologise. She will get over it.

NorthernGobshite · 27/03/2011 19:28

chloe I agree! I am an idiot!! I had that slow motion "noooooooooo" moment as I watched my phone send it. Crap.
But you're right, I have apologised and can do no more.

OP posts:
blinder · 27/03/2011 19:29

Fair enough. I've done something similar and it's gut wrenchingly embarrassing Grin.

If she hasn't got a sense of humour however, there's not much you can do about that. Good luck tomorrow!

Vallhala · 27/03/2011 19:34

Good heavens that's hardly the worst thing anyone's ever said is it? I hope that she gets over it and accepts your apology. If she doesn't it's her problem.

Lucylu5 · 27/03/2011 19:39

I posted a letter to my line manager meant for my friend and vice versa! Letter that ended up with my manager said how I was board at work and doing nothing but wasting time till I went home!!!!!! I only found out my mistake when my friend called me to ask what I was doing sending a work report to her!
Felt such an idiot rushed into managers office to grovel!! He found it quite amusing thank goodness!
Days before email!

Hope all goes ok tomorrow for you and she can see the funny side!!

BalloonSlayer · 27/03/2011 19:47

Blimey is that all?

You've just given her a free and frank opinion of her political views.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 27/03/2011 19:50

If it's not about work - nothing to do with work surely?

Besides you have to live up to your MN name, don't you NorthernGobshite? Grin

bintofbohemia · 27/03/2011 19:53

oooops! Grin

DH did this a few years back, let rip in the pub after work about how much of a twat his boss was. What he didn't know was that his phone in his pocket had dialed his boss and the whole thing was recorded on his answerphone.

He took him to one side on the Monday and told DH he was grateful for his input and would learn from it. Hope it goes similarly for you!

NorthernGobshite · 27/03/2011 20:00

tondelay I certainly do live up to my name!

ledkr · 27/03/2011 22:01

well at least you could do if she still sulks is too actually slap her and then at least she will have something to moan about Grin

NorthernGobshite · 27/03/2011 22:02

Grin ledkr

Once I sent a text saying I was throwing a sickie TO MY BOSS instead of my friend. Not my finest hour. Can't remember how I got out of it, but I did somehow! Grin

NorthernGobshite · 28/03/2011 18:24

MsScarlett you win!! Thats hialrious.
Haven't been to work as through night started with swollen glands and sore throat but have had text from colleague and have agreed to go for coffee when I return to work so will be suitably apologetic.

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 28/03/2011 18:32

Oh don't worry - it's not that bad - was expecting much worse from your OP Grin

I have sent MUCH worse about something really important and I make a point of not bitching by text now Blush
