Cook weekend lunches for the family even though dd is too young to really help with the cooking?

I am not a very good or imaginative cook but even i can do this stuff. Should I grow up and cook from proper adult cookbooks?

YANBU... start with the basics via the children's cookbook and move up when you get more confidence. Food's food, after all.

Dont be daft cook whatever you like from whatever book you wish =0)

not at all - I think it's a very good book actually. Simple recipes and very well laid out. Anything that gets you cooking would be great!

I still have my 'we can cook' book that I got for christmas in 1978 and still use it.

I use one of the DDs children's cookbooks for cakes. The recipes are totally foolproof and never fail me.

My second best cookbook is the Aga Cookbook. That is also pretty foolproof and works just as well for a normal oven. Delia's books are easy as are the Good Housekeeping ones.

We made the gold digger buns out of them last week

I have thus far done spring rolls, boreks, cheese and tomato swirls, cheesy bites and frittata!

Will start on the cakes but i need to get me a 1lb loaf tin. I have a big 1 and a small 1 but no 1lb one and i want me some bannana loaf!

Thanks guys

We've got the Usborne First Cookbook from when me and my brother's were young. Still as good as ever!

bluejeans · 27/03/2011 16:53

YANBU

I often use DD's Usborne Children's Book of Baking, the recipes are very reliable and I like the pictures Smile

My son has got 'real meals' for his food tech course. It is very simple cooking [chicken casserole, shepherds pie, chille con carne] but IMO much more useful than Jamie Oliver, Nigella etc.
Another simple recipe book is the Bero baking book, my Mum used to use it and we learnt to make cakes and scones from it.
