Ds wants it for his birthday. its £45 from amazon. I am happy to spend that much money, but would really rather not spend it on a box set of dvd's that will get scratched and unwatchable soon.

he really really wants it. Its not an unreasonable request. what he really wants are beats headphones, but at two hundred pounds plus, he knows he has no chance whatsoever of getting them.so has downgraded his request iyswim. He is going to be 14.
aibu to not want to waste money on them? or, do i accept that he is old enough and mature enough to know what he wants and is making a reasonable request?
