So can you all nag me to make me work?

I got a 29% while on drugs (legal ones) & the lecturer said I might just scrape a pass on the EMA

So I need to blast it; I have today to do 2500 words

So nag me please?
TIA

Funnily enough I don't envy you.

Unfortunately I have to do my research project as well. At least it's getting me something in return.

However what I'm going to struggle with is 'I know this needs to be done and here is the evidence why and here is the academic justification.....and this is why it won't be anyway so really it's all a big fat waste of time'.

FabbyChic · 27/03/2011 20:17

Hey Katy am rooting for you! You get there.

Some on Snap you can do it! You know you can.

KatyMac · 27/03/2011 20:21

Ask me in a month I we should have changed a good part of our reporting process by then

How's you doing on yours?

Thank you! Get on with it all of you.

Im off Grin

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 27/03/2011 20:56

796 words, no references or supporting evidence.

So basically a load of waffle....

KatyMac · 27/03/2011 21:04

Well its 600 odd words more than me

Keep at it (or do you need a break?)

FabbyChic · 27/03/2011 21:07

What are you taking Snap which element are you currently working on?

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 27/03/2011 21:08

Well ideally I need DH to phone me to say that he's arrived safe!

But currently I'm struggling with separating investigation and understanding. Surely if I say I'm going to use systemic functional linguistics to investigate I need to specify what parts in my investigation? But that would seem to come under understanding according to them?

Understanding:
"In this section, please specify the contextual concepts and theoretical frameworks that you are intending to draw upon, and why they are relevant in understanding your linguistic description of the data. For example, if your project is one which draws on systemic functional linguistics, then you will probably draw on the concepts, context of situation and context of culture, as well as field, tenor and mode."

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 27/03/2011 21:10

I'm doing applied lingustics and currently writing my EMA project proposal which should follow the cycle identify (easy) - investigate - undertand - address (relatively easy)

KatyMac · 27/03/2011 21:12

In this section, please specify the contextual concepts and theoretical frameworks that you are intending to draw upon, * is this investigtion?

and why they are relevant in understanding your linguistic description of the data. * & this understanding?

For example, if your project is one which draws on systemic functional linguistics, then you will probably draw on the concepts, context of situation and context of culture, as well as field, tenor and mode. * didn't get this at all (sorry)

Is investigate HOW & understand WHY?

OP posts:
SnapFrakkleAndPop · 27/03/2011 21:16

I think so, but in order to explain how I feel I need to justify the why....

Argh!

KatyMac · 27/03/2011 21:17

No

How is a process, stick to the process
Maybe explain what it might show but never why

Off to bed

See you all tomorrow?

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 27/03/2011 21:31

I'll be here :)

risingstar · 27/03/2011 22:50

following my earlier post. i do feel obliged to point out that whilst it is perfectly true that me and a friend knocked out our dissertations in 3 weeks for our MBAs, it was the last three weeks before the deadline (we had had 18 months previously in which to write them)Grin

it involved 3 weeks of kick up the arse emails between us and setting each other deadlines.

FabbyChic · 27/03/2011 23:12

Hey Katy see you tomorrow, hope you done well this evening, sorry couldn't help!

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 28/03/2011 16:28

So I'm still stuck on the understanding part.... Need 400 words or so on it. Which is about a third of the assignment all told.

And I have a grand total of 2 references, one of which is the assessment guidance for the course.

FabbyChic · 28/03/2011 16:31

Can you google the other reference to see what you come up with?

KatyMac · 28/03/2011 17:10

Can you reference any old TMAs?

I get to start mine again at 6

OP posts:
FabbyChic · 28/03/2011 17:22

Let us know how you get on Katy.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 28/03/2011 17:35

Google doesn't really help - it either provides simplified explanations or know to papers that don't relate to what I'm doing. Can't reference previous TMAs either as self-referencing is frowned on (grrr) probably because this module has quite a significant overlap with a previous module.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 28/03/2011 17:36

Know? Link....

KatyMac · 28/03/2011 20:04

I closed my eyes fr 5 minutes & woke 2 hrs later
