to take dd to party with an IOU?

aghh party this morning and i've forgotten to buy a present..is it acceptable to give a card and explain to mum that dd will bring present into school tomorrow?
i wouldn't mind but what do you think?

Children here often make "gift vouchers" as a promise to get something in the future.

One my daughter had was to go to her favourite shop with the child & choose her present herself-she thought that that was great!

Usually it´s a trip to the cinema or theatre.
