What is wrong with people, you can fill the bloody thing in WHENEVER you want as long as it accurately reflects your household ON the 27th March.
It's not rocket science, do people think the form or web site will go up in a cloud of smoke if you do it before then.

Until tonight, I wasn't sure who would be here tomorow night. Actually, I'm still not sure, depends on my exDIL.

BluePyjamas · 26/03/2011 23:45

Just do it on the friggin' night, how hard is it? People do just DIE you know, and you'll still have to fill in your census form even when grieving, so just do it right.

You lot are the ones that will be moaning that there's no school place for Hugo/Hero in a few years.

spiderslegs · 26/03/2011 23:47

Mmm - don't think an inaccurate cencus is that harmful

Chil1234 · 27/03/2011 07:07

I filled my in on receipt... we've got until close of play for everyone to stay alive. Gives today a bit more of a frisson of excitement than the usual Sunday! :)

Thaney · 27/03/2011 07:24

I now have more rooms in my house than I did when I received the form thanks to a garage conversion and I am 38+5 so really do have to wait until the end of the day incase the little one decides to arrive.

Iggly · 27/03/2011 07:47

Why is it stupid to follow the instructions on the form? Confused

NetworkGuy · 27/03/2011 07:50

They will, Trillian, they will... but not for a few weeks.

Thaney and anyone else making changes or expecting birth may be right to consider waiting, but after looking at mine and expecting no visitors for tonight mine was put in on the web on 08.03.11.

I doubt anyone would be fined 1000 pounds unless they point blank refuse to complete a form - minor errors are piffling in the greater scheme of things, so for Thaney, I'd suggest filling form without new baby (congratulations) and if asked "was delivered after filling in form" - is anyone to know or will 1 extra mean an extra school, somehow I doubt it.

NetworkGuy · 27/03/2011 08:01

AimingForSerenity - bet the Uni porters will say "See that 0300 phone number on the front - you had better ring them..."

SilveryMoon · 27/03/2011 08:07

I filled mine in when it came or I'd forget, but haven't posted it yet. That part I forgot Blush

jester68 · 27/03/2011 08:39

I filled mine this morning online- lot easier than the form as they did not ask the questions that were not relevant to you (ie:does your baby talk good english!)

Took 5 mins and all done now

macdoodle · 27/03/2011 08:47

By some of the reasoning here everyone should all fill it in together at midnight tonight on the dot !

I did mine last week, but left posting it until I knew what I was doing this weekend, just in case (various family members were chuntering about coming down).

AgentZigZag - glad I wasn't the only one who mulled over how to answer the English question for their toddler. I wanted to check 'very good' but was tempted to add in 'for her age' - she's hardly ready to recite Shakespeare. Does someone who sings 'here we go round my berry bush on a costy bosty morning' count as having good language skills? I decided to go for whatever the middle option was. Wonder whether we'll be entitled to free language classes to help her integrate? Or if they'll go for interpreters instead? I think I would like the interpreter please.... save me following her round the house saying 'What did you want to do? Say it again. I don't think I understand, love. What was it you wanted?'

roses2 · 27/03/2011 10:11

I can't beleive we have to pay to see previous years results, tight gits.

GoldenGreen · 27/03/2011 10:24

You don't have to answer the question about speaking English UNLESS it is not your first language

hth

meditrina · 27/03/2011 10:35

I'm getting mine out to fill in later this morning.

Although I didn't anticipate any changes to the household, you can never be sure and I didn't want to tempt fate....

NotAnotherNewNappy · 27/03/2011 11:07

I filled mine in online a few days ago, thinking I could change it today if anything happened between then and now (am expecting DC2 any minute). Agree doing it online is much less faff.

If I go into labour today and end up spending the night in hospital, do you think someone will come round to the labour ward to collect my details? Hmm

lazylula · 27/03/2011 11:09

I filled mine out when I recieved it, but haven't posted it yet incase DC3 had decided to put in an early appearance. Luckily that hasn't happened so will post tomorrow.

Baffledandbewildered · 27/03/2011 11:14

43 questions for each person .....bugger we have 5 kids and they have all come home this weekend some with friends so now I have to do it for 10 people!!!!! Bugger it will take till the next cenus to fill this form in

Hulababy · 27/03/2011 11:17

Did ours when it first arrived and filled in the visitors bit last night. I'll post it in the morning on way to work.

For the three of us it took me less than 10 minutes on the paper form.

The form looks bigger than it is. There are lots of parts you get to jump, and for children there isn't that much you fill in at all.

Sweetpea215 · 27/03/2011 11:24

I did mine when it arrived...it was only after I'd filled it in that I saw the March 27th date.

Oh well....

I suspect that a large number of forms are going to be filled in incorrectly. What about the people working and claiming benefits? Are they really going to say where they work and what they do. What about those housing illegal immigrants or people who are under the radar re Council Tax payments? Will they be honest?

The only way to guarantee an accurate census would be to have a door to door (un-announced visit) I think...but then that couldn't happen.

Bit of a waste of money methinks!

careergirl · 27/03/2011 11:37

we filled ours in two weeks previous (I live with my mum and dad)
we didn't submit it though and last week my dad died very suddenly and unexpectedly.
It makes you think.
I've waited whilst today to submit it

miso · 27/03/2011 12:10

I haven't even received the form yet, so the likelyhood of me filling it in the dot of midnight tonight is nil Smile.

You can fill them in online up till 6th May, and still post them after that, though.

If I'd had mine 3 weeks ago, I'd have filled it in there & then, it's only meant to be a snapshot.

Avantia · 27/03/2011 12:15

Had mine weeks ago - forgot all about it and have just filled it in.

Had a bit of a sad moment as have lost both my parents in last 4 years and thought that they would never appear on the census again. They dont exist anymore on paper Sad
