To think this is just daft? (parking)

DD goes to a nursery which is in a detached house. To access it you go up the drivewhich is walled and faily narrow and around to the back of the house which has a gravelled yard where there is extrememly limited parking. The nursery is on a very quiet residential street where there is loads of on street parking outside the nursery, even at busy times (it is at the end of a no through road so is never congested)

i always park on the road and carry dd up/down the drive. It is about 70ish yards. dd is quite heavy but i'd still prefer that over trying to turn around in the tiny yard.

ok i'm getting to the point. I collected dd last night and was waved out of the way by a dad going up the drive in a mahoosive car (saloon type car thats really long and wide), follwed by a mum in a huge estate car. I went upstairs to get dd. when i came down these two were arguing like mad about blocking eachother in. dad was saying something like 'well i'm not leaving for a minute you can just reverse back out'. mum said 'yes but i'm not very good a driving i cant possibly reverse out of the drive!' (fair play i wouldnt attempt it!) both their dc are older than mine and walking! (i'd guess about 3)

aibu to think this is crazy? park on the street - walk v short distance off road - no awkward parking- in and out in a flash!

(disclaimer - my car is by no means small but then i don't go in the car park Grin )

YANBU However, some people are incapable of walking, or letting their precious darlings walk, due to the condition they have called lazyitis Wink You'll find this even more so when your dd starts school Hmm

im sorry but if id have been in that argument id have said to the women 'if you cant reverse then you shouldnt be driving a car, what if an ambulance needed to get passed her would she stand there and say no im not moving i cant drive'

yanbu

Wink whilst driving you need to be able to adapt to every situation possible. if you cant then you shouldnt be allowed in the road in my opinion.
