I bought a pudding today.

DH got it out of the fridge and helped himself.

I go to get my portion, look at the box and realise it should be cooked. I tell him he's an idiot, he says I should have looked when I bought it, I say he should have looked when he got it out.

Who is being unreasonable?!

If it's a creme brulee then it will already be cooked (it's just a custard really) so you'll just need to melt the sugar on top. Unless the instructions tell you to faff about with water baths in the oven but it would have been a bit sloppy getting it home :) So you are a bit U to worry about the pregnancy thing.

HIBU though - he should have checked it before eating it.

LittleJennyRobyn · 25/03/2011 23:40

eeww at the raw chinese chicken.

atyourcervix Did your DH not realise it wasn't cooked??? It must have been like chewing leather!!

OP YANBU in this house i expect everyone to check the cooking instructions, i do not waste my time in the supermarket reading the back of the packets, i chuck it in the trolley and move on.

cumfy · 26/03/2011 00:06

If it's this Waitrose thing then you're just heating it for 4 or 5 minutes.
It's not raw egg or anything ... like quiche really.

DaisySteiner · 26/03/2011 00:08

Is he 5? Is he unable to read things for himself? Do you normally need to verbally check that he understands all the instructions on boxes that you put in the fridge? If not, then he's being a bit of a silly-billy.

cumfy · 26/03/2011 00:08

YABU :o

He's probably just diddled you out of a bigger piece.

FanellaFox · 26/03/2011 08:34

Cumfy - thats the one. Okay... so I wasn't to worry about the pregnancy thing then, he doesn't know that though Wink

Majority seem to think I was right then. I must admit, that is usually the case, me being right, him being wrong Grin

That happens a lot in our house too, OP Wink

SarkyLady · 26/03/2011 10:41

YABU

You should be far to busy laughing at his numptiness to be posting on MN.

And once you've finished laughing, make sure you comment repeatedly on quite how delicious the pudding was.

ChaoticAngelofDenial · 26/03/2011 10:41

YANBU

ChaosTrulyReigns · 26/03/2011 10:43

Hang on a minute, he went to the frudge, got himself a pudding, didn't offer to get you some as well? Then thinks you're BU for not telling that a pudding that I assume you didn't know he was about to consune needed cooking?

Well, perhaps if he hadhad the courtesy to offer you one at the same time, you may have mentioned the preparation requirements to him.

Perhaps he'll learn from this experience.

Maud2011 · 26/03/2011 11:09

Hehehe, your OP is scraping the bottom of the barrel in his attempt to make it your fault Grin

Did you cook your half?

Maud2011 · 26/03/2011 11:10

Woops sorry OP I meant your DH, OH, whatever was scraping the barrel!

GabbyLoggon · 26/03/2011 11:30

Years ago, close to xmas, I was sleeping badly, came downstairs and ate a one pound christmas pudding cold. A few minutes later the ginger in it set my throat on fire. (not a good idea)

Fruitsmoothie · 26/03/2011 14:01

Best argument for a breakup.

Sweetpea215 · 26/03/2011 14:33

Both of you...for making an issue out of it!

FanellaFox · 26/03/2011 16:50

Chaos - to be fair to him I was taking an age to finish my dinner (suffering from a tremendously bad cold) so I told him not to wait.

He was so adament that any normal person would check cooking instructions before buying - glad to see it's him in the minority, I was starting to question myself. Then again when he is shopping he hasn't got two small people with him, so has all the time in the world.

shockers · 26/03/2011 17:05

I too am pinching "Blithering nobber", in fact I'm going to go and call DH one now. He hasn't eaten raw pudding, but he might at some point so I'll get it in now to save time later.

Inertia · 26/03/2011 19:28

I don't see what difference it would have made if you had checked in the shop? Do you have a household policy of not buying puddings which require cooking?

FanellaFox · 26/03/2011 20:40

Because I could have given him the instructions whilst he was en route to the fridge, of course!

shockers - that made me actually laugh out loud!

FF please can you tell your DH that a woman on MN is very cross with him for being a blothering nibber to a pregnant woman, and he now is on pampering duty for the next

hmc · 26/03/2011 20:48

He is - loving DaisySteiner's post
