To boycot this shop?

Ds has made a shop out of a huge cardbourd box.

On it he has written prices for items and on the top of the box in very clear felt tip are the following words...

"staf Onley"

Now then, what if he is at school (he is 7 and goes 5 days a week) and i have run out of bread?
If i have my 20p in my purse, which is the price of the bread from this particular shop, would i be unreasonable to just "nip" in, leave the 20p and get the bread?

I would like to make it clear that i have NEVER been convicted of shoplifting and consider myself to be an upstanding citizen.
So AIBU?

Depends, does he have CCTV? Grin

lesley33 · 23/03/2011 13:02

YANBU to get the bread and leave 20p. He is NBU to ring childline and NSPCC about this "abuse".

Only if he has employed you as a staff member I would think. Maybe you should submit an application?

cherrychoo · 23/03/2011 13:07

Oh i LOVE you lot you are fab and have made me laugh my head off!

If you do boycott it, can I visit. I like the prices he is asking.
IIWY, I would advise him that he needs to increase them a tiny bit in order to maximise profit.
DD (who is nearly 10) had no idea that the little dog treat sausage things she likes to take to school cost nearly 3 euros for 5.

This thread has made me Smile

kreecher your dd takes dog treats to school? To eat? Could you just buy from cherrys ds's shop?

NeverPoohonaMole · 23/03/2011 13:32

Other items you may be interested in:

laptop 20£

coke 1£

crisps 10p

choclot 22p

cars 24p

There are self service slots for you £1 notes and 20p's

tis a very modern shop with a custom made slot for the shop keeper to pass out goods......with special attention to security as the box top flaps close sucurely over the shop keeper once the staf member has crouched down.

What's his price for milk? I may start shopping there.

NeverPoohonaMole · 23/03/2011 13:38

Is he willing to provide a delivery service?

posypoo · 23/03/2011 13:40

Why not persuade him to make it a cooperative, do a couple of shifts, and invite Channel 4 to do a reality show?

ChippingInMistressSteamMop · 23/03/2011 13:42

Please let me know when he goes 'on line' with it Grin

ForeverNamechanging · 23/03/2011 13:44

24p for a car?

Will he deliver to Berkshire?

cherrychoo · 23/03/2011 13:45

dont be silly, no milk....no fridge in the shop. sigh.....

well, he could deliver between the hours of 4pm, and 7pm which is of course bedtime. He will need half an hour at 5pm for his tea.

But then again, that would mean that he would need to close the shop in order to deliver, and then is wouldnt get my bread would i, SO id be back to the original question.......should i leave the 20p and take the bread EVEN though it clearly states .. "Staf ONLEY"

so im going to have to say no to the delivery service.

OP posts:
captainbarnaclesmum · 23/03/2011 13:45

I'd also like to register for deliveries please.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 23/03/2011 13:47

never they aren't real dog treats, they just look like them. I think they are some sort of salami. As I don't eat meat products (I don't mind proper meat) I'll never know.
OP. if your DS is considering world domination, he can set up in partnership with my DD. World domination starting in Belgium and moving outwards.

cherrychoo · 23/03/2011 13:50

Kreecher lets just be clear about this.....I am of course in charge of the world, ds is making up rules for his shop which i disagree with.

I am challenging this rule as i do not believe it to be in the interests of health and safety and i believe it to be discriminatory against people with out bread.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 23/03/2011 13:53

his shop, his rules.

Gingefringe · 23/03/2011 13:55

My son used to love doing things like this as well. (Now sadly 12 and into his Xbox).

Best sign he had up was "By one free, get oen free" - wasn't sure if it was some king of BOGOF offer. Made me laugh at the time. Brew

MadameDefarge · 23/03/2011 14:01

I think you should apply for a job and get staff discount.

CharlieCoCo · 23/03/2011 16:51

cars and chocolate are very reasonably priced but £1 for coke Shock i hope this is a big bottle and not a can, how can he rip people off this way Grin

cherrychoo · 24/03/2011 20:46

unfortunately ds's buisness has been forced into liquidation on acount of the poor opening hours and shoppers going elsewhere.

Sadly we had to put shop into the recycle bin today.

Dragons den was a consideration but unfortunately i would imagine lots of "im outs".
