I don't mean who actually get on with children, or are patient enough to appreciate that their frustrating habits are often due to age, but the kind of folk who genuinely can't see anything at all difficult or dislikable in any child, and who think this temporary love of the whole human race makes them virtuous rather than naive and patronising.

Oh, that makes a lot of sense, Adela. It's like a vicar friend of mine was once ranting about people who applied for a role as accountant for a church chairty, whose applications were just about 'I want to do God's work', and nothing about 'I have ten years experience of a similar role and have all appropriate qualifiactions'. As he said, in this particular case doing God's work included having some kind of accountancy training and experience, not having a general good will to all little children.

Even if you meet children and dont feel either way about them they grow on you and it is difficult not to bond with them if you around them a lot. In taht sense it is easy to like lots of children if you are with them for extended periods day in day out for years.

I generally DON'T like kids. Kids these days I find, generally, spolit and rude.
Am trying to think of any kids I like........ NOPE.
Even my own are not that pleasant.

So does Op have very strong feelings about people who don't like children ?

'can't see anything at all difficult or dislikable in any child, and who think this temporary love of the whole human race makes them virtuous rather than naive and patronising.'

There is obviously annoying things about everyone in the world. Your parents, husband, friends, work colleagues etc. Doesnt stop you loving/liking them. Same goes for kids all do annoying things sometimes but I never think I actually dislike them as they always then redeem themselves in the cutest and most innocent ways. They all have special things that make them who they are, once you have bothered to get to know them.Thats what I find at work anyway. I think all my friends at work would say the same.
