to expect the spare chocolate to be returned to me?

DD3's birthday yesterday and so I sent in a a variety pack of funsize chocolates in for her to distribute today. I'm not keen on fhe idea but I'm always one to cave to peer group pressure.

The bag contained 45 treats, 30 in the class, by my reckoning I should be able to to have a copious chocolate feast tonight after the DC have gone to bed.Grin

The tightshorts teacher gave out the chocs and then put the remainder in the storecupboard in the back of the class.

I knew I should have just sent in exactly 30 but didn't want to appear parsimonious. [wunk]

Ratbungs the lot of them.

Surely it is you who is being a tightshorts for expecting five measlyfunsize chocolates back.

MrsDaffodill · 22/03/2011 14:43

It would never occur to me that they would come back home.

pranma · 22/03/2011 15:26

Awwww poor teachers-that choccie would go down nicely with their breaktime cuppa :)

Carmen123 · 22/03/2011 15:43

YABU. I wish I was that teacher! Hm .. I could murder some chocolates now. Tell you want: why don't you just think that if she kept them for herself it is a moment on her lips, a lifetime on her hips? Maybe that would help.

SandStorm · 22/03/2011 15:43

Did you actually see her put them in the back of the cupboard? It's far more likely that DD started to give them out to friends in other classes, or give her best friends another couple. I never expect anything to come back from school on birthdays.

Carmen123 · 22/03/2011 15:45

Seriously, I always make extra cupcakes / chocolates and I get upset if they send some back because I think they (cupcakes/chocolates) were rubbish and no one liked them!!!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 22/03/2011 16:00

Nice maths notso. Grin

Well done everyone who knows a pistake when they see one.

Go and fetch yourselves a treat from the storecupboard.

I with you valiumredhead I am stunned that you would expect and actually want them back.

You should have just sent in 30 if that's the case Hmm

What's a ratbung? I like it I may use it in the future.
YANBU, but the teacher is probably very happy. Smile

valiumredhead · 22/03/2011 16:20

Oh sorry your attempt at humour is lost on us OP

mycatoscar · 22/03/2011 16:21

I'm a teacher and I always send the rest home with the child - would never occur to me to keep them unless the parent suggested it.

Did you ask for them back yet?

frgr · 22/03/2011 16:22

it would never occur to me to send back part of a food gift that's been given as per the OP

how odd

LouMacca · 22/03/2011 16:22
Smile
valiumredhead · 22/03/2011 16:26

I have doubts this was meant to be funny - I think you are back pedalling as we know what a tight arse you are now! Grin

BoattoBolivia · 22/03/2011 18:54

I'm a teacher and I never get the extra ones as the children hand them out themselves and then disappear into the playground with the rest Sad. it is not unheard of for me to hunt down said child and demand my chocolate if they missed me out! Wink.

pawsnclaws · 22/03/2011 19:00

I think hoovering up the spare Maltesers is surely a much-needed and deserved perk of the job for a primary teacher, isn't it? Let's face it, the chocolate in those snack-sized packs always tastes better than the full-sized version.

Go and see the teacher about something else and while you're talking just stop and say " .... oh hang on - is that a Malteser crumb down your top?" If she even hesitates you've rumbled her!

foreverondiet · 22/03/2011 19:06

YABU to expect anything to come home. She probably thought you were being generous by giving for prizes/extras/staff after all you know how many are in the class.

Browncoats · 23/03/2011 01:13

Are you joking OP???? Did you seriously expect the extra chocolate to be sent home? I'm really tight for cash at the moment, and I would probably send more than you into school and be insulted if they sent some back.

How tacky of you!

LittleNicci · 23/03/2011 01:19

Is this a wind-up thread?

AllGoodNamesGone · 23/03/2011 01:53

Well, once my DD and she was given the spares to bring home and she was pounced on in the cloakroom on the way out by classmates who presumably hadn't eaten in a week the way they were going at it, and by the time they'd finished, oh can I have one, can I have one, and some grabbing more than one, the greedy little blighters, grr, there were none left to bring home anyway!

Grin
jalopy · 23/03/2011 06:47

Tight.

frazzle26 · 23/03/2011 06:52

I'd be embarassed to ask for them back, i'd feel a bit tight tbh. It's only a few cheap chocolates- go and buy some more!!

Goblinchild · 23/03/2011 07:00

She's planned better than me, I usually give back the spares, then the child gets mobbed by friends and relations from other classes in the payground.
I do have a spare bag of treats in my cupboard because some parents can't be arsed to count correctly and send in a bag of 25 for a class of 30 and that causes chaos and Bad Feelings.

AmandaCooper · 23/03/2011 07:10

Where was the clue that this is a joke? I don't get it.
