I really loathe when people use 'the look' Hmm when they don't agree with something said, it's bad enough in real life, but on a message board, don't you have the balls to spit it out?

just saying.

that's it! it's when it's being used PASSIVE AGGRESSIVELY! i didn't realise that's what was bothering me!

sorry Hmm face, it's not you i loathe, it's the passive aggressiveness behind your raised eyebrow that rubs me the wrong way!

and i am definitely not being unreasonable for loathing passive aggressiveness! problem solved!

Grin at madhousewife. It's supposed to be the MN jury who decides if you are being unreasonable, not you!

Actually I like Grin 'cos I can use it instead of "lol" which is considered a bit chavvy on MN afaik.

I think I am probably the worst offender for the overuse of emoticons.

I do it, I think, because I am very aware of the potential for misinterpretation.

I think I've done it before, but...

that's nice of you

that's nice of you Smile
that's nice of you Grin
that's nice of you Hmm
that's nice of you Angry
that's nice of you Shock
that's nice of you Wink
that's nice of you Confused
that's nice of you Sad
that's nice of you Biscuit

see?

what we type can be interpreted in so many ways. Expecially when you are cracking a joke. The emoticons help people to understand your intent.

However, I bloody HATE the damned Biscuit I think it's really bitchy.
