Its the 0.1 germ that we should worry about

If you look at all your germ killing thing they only kill 99.9 % of germs

the germs they cannot kill must be tough litle sods and they are playing a waiting game untill they can wipe out humanity

the end of the world is nigh

fragglerocks · 20/03/2011 21:18

I know! This has annoyed me since I saw it advertised a while ago, WHAT IS THE POINT!??

jazz412 · 20/03/2011 22:08

exactly what is the point of it???? if you touch a "god forbid" soap dispenser that someone before you may have touched who has germs, you're going to WASH your hands so what's the problem???
Next we'll be expected to buy body wash for before we get in the shower in case we get germs in the shower...

Oh god, don't start me. Really.

NoWayNoHow · 20/03/2011 23:05

Thought exactly the same thing when I saw it.

Whatever genius thought that up needs to have a word with themselves.

Beggards belief really - if we all realised this in 0.45secs, are you seriously telling me that no-one else at the company twigged before they wasted all their R&D/marketing budget??

edam · 20/03/2011 23:16

oh, they twigged all right, they just reckon there are enough people out there who do not think to make loadsamoney out of this entirely unnecessary product. Probably right, too.

backwardpossom · 20/03/2011 23:18

My grandad has terrible arthritis in his hands and finds it very useful as he finds using a pump thing quite painful.

So, YAB a bit U (although YANBU if the only reason someone buys it is because they don't want to touch the pump thing!).

JarethTheGoblinKing · 20/03/2011 23:19

There was a poster on here with an ASD child who really benefited from this product, so YABU. Grin

ISWYM though. I bet people who buy this product don't disinfect the loo flusher..

NoWayNoHow · 20/03/2011 23:24

backward and jareth - those are exactly the kinds of people who would benefit from a product like this, so why not market it as "an easier to use dispenser" rather than the ridiculous current marketing ploy about it being "cleaner Confused"

DaphneHeartsFred · 20/03/2011 23:25

Looks like quite a good idea. My mum has arthritis and DS sometimes struggles to push the soap thingy down without sending everything else flying across the bathroom or kitchen.

But to market it emphasising the 'germ' bit is a bit fecking silly.

NoWayNoHow · 20/03/2011 23:25

x-post *daphne" Grin

chillichill · 20/03/2011 23:26

its convenient in a kitchen if you work with a lot of raw meat. then again, I use my wrist to pump the soap when I've been chopping chicken but if i was a butcher, maybe id want one. or if I wanted my bathroom to have the chic sophistication of an airport loo.

jazz412 · 21/03/2011 07:25

so market it to people who would benefit from it such as SN and people who find the pumps hard to manage, also butchers apparently..
not to everyone for not spreading germs...

Marketing department must either themselves be really stupid or think that the general public are.
I wonder whether anyone who could use a normal soap dispenser has brought one and why?

OP posts:
Saltatrix · 21/03/2011 07:29

Best make sure you have a motion sensor tap as well otherwise when you turn off the tap your going to have to wash your hands again and again and again basically a non ending circle....

Himalaya · 21/03/2011 07:37

My 7 year old pointed this out the other day. Who do they think they are fooling with this ad?!?

TyraG · 21/03/2011 07:47

I used the Lysol hands free dispenser, but mainly because when I cook chicken, eggs, or anything else that I didn't want to have to touch the soap dispenser after messing with. It's easy to turn the faucet on with your arm, not so much the soap dispenser. Here I don't have that type of faucet, I have the knobs. So it doesn't really matter.

YouCantTeuchThis · 21/03/2011 07:54

I 'get' that it is completely superfluous in most situations, but I still want it Grin

But it is for mostly aesthetic reasons. DH and others come in from the farm regularly throughout the day and wash hands at the sink. The soap dispenser is constantly filthy as they handle it with manky, dirty hands. They seem to be able to rinse the tap as they turn it off but the soap remains the bain of my life.

And because it is right by my kitchen sink, I can't help but feel that it is more than just aesthetic - farm germs are not nice!

jazz412 · 21/03/2011 14:56

ok so maybe you're allowed one.

OP posts:
jazz412 · 21/03/2011 14:57

or maybe your family should just wipe the soap dispenser like they do the tap?

OP posts:
ddubsgirl · 21/03/2011 14:58

i hate the bloomin ad

YouCantTeuchThis · 21/03/2011 15:53

My family I can nag...other visiting (but equally manky) people, I cannot Grin

jazz412 · 21/03/2011 15:55

you could pointedly do it?

OP posts:
Pixel · 21/03/2011 20:23

Dh has to point this out every single time the Dettol 'no-touch soap' ad comes on.
